Betty's POV

Me and Veronica basically just talked our way through biology. Well, she talked. Not that I don't like her, I do. She seems like a really nice person, but she is really bubbly.

She kept pushing me to try out for the River Vixens, since they're doing tryouts today for the new students.

Eventually I gave into the peer pressure and here I am, in the gym, trying out to be a cheerleader.

"Betty Cooper and Toni Topaz?" Cheryl calls.

I wouldn't try out alone so I convinced Toni to do it with me.

We walk up there really awkwardly, then begin cheering and doing the routine Veronica taught us.

Afterward, they seem pretty impressed so I think we did okay.

"Okay, we've made our decision. We're gonna call out names, if your name isn't called, then you didn't make the team," Cheryl says after a couple of minutes.

"Betty, Heidi, Jess, Peaches, and Toni."

The rest of the girls who didn't get called left the gym. Not all of them were Serpents. Some were girls who didn't make the team earlier this year.

"Okay! Everyone... welcome to the River Vixens!" Veronica calls out.

She runs over to me and Toni. "So, will you girls sit with us at lunch?" Veronica asks us.

"Well, I have to sit with Cheryl. So if you're sitting with her..." Toni says.

"Great! Betty?" she turns to me and asks.

"I don't know, Veronica. Jughead is gonna want to sit with me, but... I'll try and convince him to sit with you."

"Yay! Okay..." she says and runs over to Cheryl and Josie.

"So..." Toni starts. "You and Jones?"

Me and her haven't really talked about my relationship with Jughead. I just wanted to make sure what I was feeling was real before I told anyone else. She knows we hooked up, but that's it.

"Yeah... I told him that I just wanna he friends... with benefits."

"With benefits?"

"Yeah, but I'm kinda regretting my decision," I admit.

She doesn't say anything just waits for me to continue.

"I just- after we hooked up, I felt like... I don't know how to explain it, but... it was like we were a couple. We acted like we were a couple. My God, Toni. We slept together on a couch last night. We fucking cuddled!"

She sighs. "Maybe you should call it off. Tell him you just wanna be friends for right now."

"Yeah, you're right."

By this time, Veronica is coming back to us. "So, ladies, whatcha talkin' bout?"

"Oh, nothing..." I blush.
