Melissa POV
I looked up. "And what may be?" I said with a quiver in my voice.
"Well the testresults came back." he held out a folder. I reluctantly grabbed it a lifted open .
Jackson, as curious as he is, peered over my shoulder.
The doctor continued. "As you can see, the cancer has metastisized to her bones, and the tumors in her lungs are, well big. Very big."
Just as the tears had stopped, they revisited again.
"What about the chemo?" asked Jackson.
"It hasn't made a dent."
But this wasn't the worst part.
The doctor shook his head. "I'm afraid you're terminal."
I burst into tears. That was the worst part.
"How much time does she have?" said a voice from the door way. I looked up. Dyllan.
(A/N : I told you Dyllan would come in sooner or later.)
~Dylan POV~
"What the hell do you want?" Melissa sneered.
"Gee hello to you to."
"Right now not be the time for fu-"
"Ah ah ah language please." I said walking in.
I waited for an answer.
" A week. Two at most." The doctor replied. I nodded.
I may have known Ellie for a short time but I still cared. She was my little sister's friend. But something in the back of my mind tugged at me. Why should I care? I mean, I never have before. My sister hates me anyways, so why?
As if Melissa read my mind, she shot a look at me, and said, "Why do you care? It's not your responsibility. It never has and never will be."
I looked around, the doctor was gone.
"This is my friend." she continued. "Not yours so back the hell away." her face was red. i couldn't tell if it was red with anger or from the constant crying. before I could stop myself, I slapped her.
Ellie gasped.
I could see the blood rushing to her face.
Jackson came at me. "What the hell man, what was that for?"
"She knows very well what it was for." and with that I walked away.
~Ellie POV~
My mind was a blur with emotions. What had happened? First I find out that I'm going to die, then Dyllan comes in here and slaps his little sister.
"What a douchebag." said Jackson checking if Melissa was alright.
She rose on her feet and dusted herself off. "I'm not surprised. And frankly, I really don't care."
"But nevermind me. Today is about you.." she motioned over to me.
"I-I don't even know what to do. Honestly I'm terrified."
"Princess, death is inevitable. You have to face it sometime sooner or later. I guess for you it's just sooner."
(A/N:I know what you are thinking, but that was not a Fault In Our Stars refrence. Just because I said 'inevitable' doesn't automatically mean tfios.)
Just then something inside me clicked.
"What about my mom?" she has to know the news. Oh she'll be heartbroken."
"The doctors probably have told her already don't worry." Melissa came over to my bed.
"I have an idea." she had a look on her face. A look I knew was not a good one. She was up to somethng.
"What is it?" I waited for her twisted plan.
"I suppose we could have a day off."
"What do you mean?" Jackson asked. She had caught his attention.
"Go somewhere. You know? Who cares anymore. We've got a week. Live everyday like there's no tomorrow."
Now she had captured my attention.
"You guys have your whole lives again. I have a week."
"Ellie, after you're gone, it will never be the same." Tears revisited her eyes. But she quickly blinked them back, before I could remind her about how much I hated sympathy. Pity. Any type of emotionthat shows saddness towards my condition.
"Look. Let's go back to Philly for the day and get some of our well known steak."
"Are you sure we won't get in trouble?"
"Oh stop it. We go tomorrow. I will let one of the nurses know, and we can have the day off."
I have an uncertian look on my face.
"Okay. As long as-" but it was too late Melissa was already squealing like a child.
