May blinked, her eyes unsteady and unfocused while she glanced over the papers one by one, and then sighed. Rubbing her eyes, she closed her eyes for a few moments, feeling her body sway here and there while her lamp flickered a bit. Noticing this, she blinked her eyes and turned her body to the door. "Sebastian!" May shouted towards the door and a few footsteps could be heard before the faint figure of the bodyguard was seen, "Yes, boss?"
May leaned back into her seat, "Change the lamp," May ordered and Sebastian nodded before walking out, closing the door gently behind him. May sighed again before turning to the clock, seeing that it was 3:06. With her arms above her head, the raven-haired female stretched before looking at the paper once again. ".. Invisibility agreement.." May sighed. An invisibility agreement was a paper which needed to be agreed on both parties. Her VIP guests and big companies usually ask for invisibility agreements, especially when they need to ambush or kill their enemy.
She looked at the other party asking for the agreement. "Hades.." May felt something quite annoying stir inside her when she furrowed her eyebrows in disgust, before throwing the paper down the trashcan. Sebastian quietly opened the door with a new light bulb and walked over, seeing the paper in the trash can before leaning over to change it. May moved back while listening to Sebastian ask, "Hades wants to make a deal with you?" "Yeah. I wonder who they want to kill." ".. They're probably going to kill Poseidon." May glanced to him and shook her head, "No. I don't think so. They've been going against each other for years in fair competition. They're not going to ruin their faces in public by cheating, it's a big disgrace." May explained.
Sebastian nodded. "Do you think Zeus is getting involved?" He asked and May replied, "Yeah, probably. There is no way that this agreement paper would get through the mafia world if they didn't get it checked from Zeus first." He agreed, "I think... they're going to probably try to kill either me and Saphire, or Callex and Eric."
".. Are you?" He asked, leaning back when he finished turning the light bulb. May was quiet for a while, her hands twiddling in her lap while her hair drooped down to touch the back of his seat. "No. Have you seen Saphire and Eric these days? Those two are constantly lovey-dovey. Although I don't want to see that everyday, I can't just take him away from her." Silence emerged in the room and Sebastian lowered his head, sighing before adding another question, "You consider Eric and Saphire, but what about you and Callex?"
This question made May turned to him in confusion. "There's nothing going on with me and Callex. We're nothing by business partners," she said, although the side of her neck started to tingle for some reason. "Sebastian.." May furrowed her eyebrows, the tingling began to turn into pain, traveling down her neck and into her right shoulder, making her stop her movement completely. Sebastian was alerted immediately, seeing May's face in confusion. "What is it, Boss?"
"Check my pulse on my neck," May whispered and Sebastian came closer and pressed two of his fingers against May's neck, before stepping back in shock. "Why is your pulse beating so slow?" May blinked a couple times, hearing a ringing in her ear. "I think I've been poisoned."
"MAY'S BEEN POISONED?!" Saphire shouted in her room before running out, Eric leaving her room in an instant while following Saphire into May's work room. "Where's Callex?!" Eric shouted and Sebastian clicked his tongue, "He's busy dealing with something back at your home. Apparently someone tried to break in the company." Eric grunted before Saphire busted open the door, seeing May sitting their with her hands sitting on her lap while her left hand was clenched into a fist. She was staring intently at the wall in front of her, papers all around her were filled and marked with red marks.
"May! May-" Saphire shouted and immediately ran over, and gripped her by the shoulder, shouting her name while she stared intently at Saphire. "I can't even hear you, stop shouting," May said, her eyebrows furrowed while her right hand still laid limp on the table. Saphire's eyes widened in shock, moving back before looking at Sebastian, asking for answers. "What happened?"
"Boss suspects Daven's ring has been hiding poison, and when it scratched her neck it may have cracked open the poison capsule and affect her bloodstream. Lucky though, it only affected her hearing a bit and her right arm." Saphire was in disbelief, stumbling back before falling, and Eric supported her immediately. "No.. May. Tell me it's not true." Saphire pleaded on the ground, eyes teary and May's eyes continued to stare intently at the wall, her hands clenching tighter and tighter. She couldn't hear anymore, and Saphire's cries were nothing but white noise to her. In the middle of her crying, they heard May's voice gently and quietly comfort her, ".. Saphire I won't die from this.." May said, making Saphire raise her head and uncover her face.
May moved out her chair with a bit of difficulty before kneeling in front of her, gripping her hands together, "I won't die. It'll affect me a bit but I won't die," She smiled, "Just.. help protect me for a while, and then I'll find a way to get better. Amethyst specializes in medicine and poison, although Daven might be from that clan, Amethyst doesn't like traitors, and if we can find information that Daven had tried to flip the throne, we may get the cure." May smiled and Saphire pulled her into a hug, crying hard.
"May.. I'm sure we can. I'm sure we can," She weeped before hiding her face and May stepped back, smiling. Glancing at her lips, she could tell Saphire said they can make it since she had repeated it twice, so if she didn't understand in the beginning, she understood the second line. "We will be okay. It isn't the strongest poison. The leader of Amethyst is someone I know decently."
"We will be okay."
