Chapter 14- Vod

Above is two OCs, Beef, who I mentioned a few chapters ago, and Crack, who's being introduced. I messed up beefs face but he's smiling in a salute. They're gonna be from the November squad.

Rex entered the barracks quietly, his brothers had had a rough time on Teth, and after losing so many on Christophsis, none of them were doing good. There was one clone, however, who he noticed was shiny.
'That's weird, I thought we go to get them...' The shiny in question had a large scar going across his skull, and had a buzz cut like him, but it was brown as opposed to blond. The shiny was very close to Kix, and they seemed to be deep in conversation. Rex assumed he was getting a medical check, but as he got closer, he realised it was Kix who was struggling. Instinct taking over, he went over to his brother and put a hand on his shoulder. He then realised Kix was crying.
"Kix, vod, what's wrong?" He needed to help, but he didn't know what to do. He then looked more closely at the shiny, recognising him as one of Kix's squad.
"CT-9135, it's, it's been a while. How come you're here?"
"The names Crack now captain," pointing at his skull, "and this guy put in a request to have me sent over before the rest. Didn't ya vod?"
Crack was clearly very close to Kix, the medic never showed vulnerability, but here he was, shaking in the arms of his brother.
Composing himself, Kix turned to his captain,
"Sorry sir, I, I needed someone I could talk to, I take rank when it comes to a trooper's health, and that includes my own... I, um, yeah, I can't look after my brother's if I'm breaking down. I asked crack to come, he was meant to be with us, I'm glad he wasn't though. I just needed someone I can trust."

His words hurt Rex slightly, he thought Kix trusted him, but he knew squad brothers were different, his and Cody's bond was stronger than anything. Taking the time to take in what the clone had said, he simply dropped any negative emotions and joined the hug. Soon enough, the four remaining 501st members joined in, and there was a mass of brethren holding each other close. Moving on from what they had experienced wasn't going to be easy, but they had each other.

Beef, another soldier of November, broke the silence.
"Hey, crack, tell the captain how you got your name!"
"He already knows B," Crack sighed, "what about you, last time I saw you it was 9134, where's Beef come from?"
With a chuckle, Kix answered this one, "Basically, we were on Teth, and he was bored of rations, so he killed a native bug, and ate it. No worries, no cares, no fears, no nothing. Bloody reckless. And we look at him, he's smiling like a lothcat, and goes "tastes like bantha beef"."

Crack looked at his twin, smacked him upside the head, and laughed, suddenly getting a serious look, he said
"That's funny, but don't ever do that again. I'm not losing you."

Beef mumbled something that sounded like "yeah, like I nearly lost you because of a stupid bed..."

Crack had released Kix into the pile of men, and was now very close to Beef, he simply squeezed his hands, then got a smile,
"Don't bring up the bed, ever."

The two were laughing, and Kix explained that the reason Crack has his namesake was that his pod malfunctioned and crushed his head when he was talking to them. He had spent nearly a month in bacta and then another two weeks in a coma, which is why he didn't ship out with them.

Everyone was feeling better after hearing the stories, and they all welcomed Crack with open arms - metaphorically and literally. Those seven were all that remained of the 501st now, and they would all go together to recruit some more. For now however, they were just to recover. The men, who all loved each other, were talking, and that was a step to healing that they needed to take.
