Chapter 23- Blue Shadows

Straight continuation basically, part of the reason I posted the first part when I did is because I knew it would be super long, the other reason I already said.

Padmé and Jar-Jar arrived on Naboo within a few hours, and were quickly greeted by Queen Jamillia and the rest of her guard. The company entered the palace, heading to the throne room for food - it was the only place large enough to host a meal and also military discussions.

Nostalgia hit Padmé like a ton of bricks, she remembered sitting in the throne, she remembered the blockade around her planet, meeting Jar-Jar and Obi-Wan and Anakin. Oh how she loved that man, she would have to inform the Queen of her plans to have a family with him. That would be fun.

Once the Queen was seated, the rest of the diners sat, turning to her with attentive ears.
"Alright, I don't feel the need to bother with formalities just now, we have too much to discuss. But first, Padmé, please, tell me how the senate is, and you yourself. It's been too long."

"Thank you Jamillia, firstly, the senate is as the senate always is, tedious. And secondly, I am putting in a formal request for Jar-Jar to be trained as a senator."

"Hold up- yousa wants meesa to be senator? That's big big honour, meesa very honoured." Jar-Jar's unique gungan agent cut through the seconds of silence after her statement.

"Jar-Jar isn't the only one who's a tad confused Padmé, please, tell me, why do you request this?"

That was captain Typho, he hoped she wasn't in danger, he had cared for Padmé for over a decade now.

"There's no need to get worried everybody," she assured them all, "I can see the worries piling on your faces from here. I request this because I am trying to start a family."

Once again, the party was stunned, but Typho regained his composure quickly enough.
"Congratulations Padmé, with Master Skywalker I presume?"
She nodded with a blush, smiling brightly.
"Yes, there is a possibility that I am already with child, and I do believe we will announce our relationship formally once I return to Coruscant."

The Queen smiled brightly, addressing the senator.
"Congratulations my dear, however I do have to bring us back to the issue at hand. We will need to investigate these sightings, and since it was near gungan territory, I was hoping that you and representative Binks would question the locals?"

Before anyone could tell her not to, she accepted, thoroughly of the belief that until she was unable to stand, she would carry out her duties to her people.

It wasn't until the next morning that her and Jar-Jar set off, later than she would have preferred due to a terribly timed wave of sickness. Thankfully, it subsided rather quickly, so the two were able to travel.

Arriving at the point where the droids were spotted, she noticed a gungan farmer looking extremely distressed. Even if they were there to investigate, they still should aid anyone they can. As she approached the farmer, whom she now recognised as a shaak herder, she was greeted with a spear near her throat.

"Stop! Whosa you and what issa yousa doing here?" The herder demanded, she was stressed, she didn't have time for this!

"Weesa here looking for mouy-mouy bad droids. Whatsa the problems miss?" Jar-Jar stepped in front of Padmé, he may have been seen as an idiot, but he most certainly wasn't one.

"No. Yousa both have to go, shaak dying, no idea why. Dangerous."

That piqued Padmé's interest, what could have killed her herd,
"May we see them, I might be able to help."

Reluctantly, the female gungan lowered her weapon and gestured to them to follow. After a few minutes, over the hill they had landed on, Padmé was greeted by a horrific sight.

The shaak that had been by the water had all died, a blue tinge to their decaying bodies. The remaining creatures had been penned up, far away from the river. She knew what she was looking at, but she didn't want to believe it.

Under her breath, she said a prayer,
"Mother Goddess, please do not do this, I beg of thee." Stepping away from the two gungans, she immediately contacted both the Queen and her husband.

"Your majesty, master Skywalker, I'm sorry to interrupt, this is a priority one distress call. I have found a herd of shaak dead here on Naboo, and I'm sure that the Blue Shadow virus is the culprit. All the signs are there. Naboo must be closed except to republic and military aid until more is known. Padmé out."

Anakin was in the Jedi war room, he and Obi-Wan were discussing strategies for a small skirmish on the border between the inner and outer rim. Suddenly, his personal frequency beeped, indicating a message had been left. Seeing it was from Padmé, he quickly requested to take it, stepping out of the room.

"Your majesty, master Skywalker, I'm sorry to interrupt, this is a priority one distress call."
The comlink had no visuals, and the statement of severity meant that it was not a personal call. Immediately, he entered the war room again, calling for an emergency meeting.

"Master, I've just received a distress call from Padmé, priority one, we need to call the council here."

A flash of worry showed through Obi-Wan's neutral "I'm a general" mask as he sent the request through. After a few minutes, all available council members were on holo-call. Windu, clearly irritated by the call after seeing Skywalker, decided to speak up.

"Skywalker, Kenobi, what is this?"

"Straight to the point, as always." Anakin thought to himself, before responding.
"Master Windu, I've just had a transmission from senator Amidala, I shall play it now."

As the message played, the council members remained stoic, until the mention of the Blue Shadow virus, at which point many members were visibly anxious.

"Hmm, dreadful this is, if true. Believe her, do you Skywalker?" Yoda quickly questioned, cutting through the tense silence.

"Yes master, for one, she's my wife, why wouldn't I? And two, this is a very serious threat, no person of sound mind would make a statement like this baseless. She has requested an immediate lockdown of the planet, Padmé wouldn't do that lightly."

"Of course, young Skywalker, forgive me you must. A long time it has been, since this virus tormented us last. Investigate, you and Kenobi will. Our only free Jedi at this time you are. Take your padawan and legions you will. May the force be with you."

Bowing in respect, the two masters returned the statement before ending the call.

"Alright Anakin, let's get going."

Oops imma do a time skip to after this arc, basically everything happens as it does in the show, except Anakin is open about his fears for Padmé and Ahsoka. I just cba writing it out, also I've changed the name of the previous chapter so yh, and lastly, for timeline purposes, we are about 2 and a quarter years through the clone wars. Hope y'all are having a good time rn
