It was midmorning when Anakin and Padmé were at the fertility clinic on Coruscant. They were eagerly awaiting a doctor to call them in, this was it, this would be the start of their family. The screen above them read Skywalker, and the two rose to meet the person who had just entered the waiting room.

A young twi'lek woman gave them a warm smile, her tag read Dr. Akala Melikoré, her skin a soft green. Looking at the two people she was welcoming, she was slightly surprised, mainly because the senator in front of her had never publicly announced a relationship.
"Senator Amidala, Master Skywalker, please follow me, it's a pleasure to meet you both."
"As it is for us doctor." Padmé responded, with such poise and elegance that Anakin had to stop himself from swooning, she truly was an angelic being in his eyes.

When the trio arrived at the doctor's consultation room, they entered and began discussing why the couple were here.

"Now, senator, master Jedi, firstly, how would you like me to address you both? I would like you to use my first name, Akala, as we will be getting to know each other very well I hope."

Anakin spoke up this time, "you can call us Anakin and Padmé, or Mr and Mrs Skywalker if formalities are required." Giving one of his signature smirks in tandem, interlacing his fingers with those of his beloved.

"Wonderful! Congratulations on your marriage, now, why have you chosen this route of starting a family?"

Noticing her husband's grip increase slightly, she gave his hand a quick squeeze, reminding him that it was okay and to be honest with the doctor. Recognising her support, Anakin gave a small nod, allowing Padmé to explain.

"You see Akala, Anakin here is transgender, he was born female, so we don't have the option of "traditional" pregnancy. We have both thought about adoption, but personally I want to carry our child, so we chose IVF."

"Ah, I see," the doctor said calmly, "Anakin, you need not worry about that, our technologies are more than suitable for families such as yourselves. My sister was in a similar boat not too long ago, we also have a confidentiality agreement in which nothing said in this room will leave it without your permission. We pride ourselves on our patient care here. Furthermore, we also offer counselling for prospective parents throughout the process, which will be available should you require it."

The tense Jedi relaxed at that, he had always felt like an outlier, but to hear that many couples did this, that eased his spirit.

After another hour of discussion, it was decided that Padmé would be given hormonal treatment to ready her body, and a sample of Anakin's DNA would be taken. Just as they were getting ready to finish up their first meeting, Anakin remembered something vital.
"Oh! Akala, I just remembered, ah... How do I say this, my DNA is 50% midichlorian. Will that affect the chances of success?"

That was not what she expected, quickly pulling herself back to reality, she gave the best answer she had.
"I'm not sure Anakin, I don't believe it will negatively affect the process, though I will have to consult someone in regards to it. Would you be willing to let me contact Grandmaster Yoda and tell him about all of this?"
"Yes, of course, he will know, almost definitely, he is almost 900 years old."

Padmé chuckled at that, then looked at her husband's face, only to see her wasn't exaggerating for once. She knew master Yoda was elderly, but gracious! 900? No wonder he was Grandmaster.

Similarly surprised, Akala nodded, and lead them back to the reception. After penciling in their next appointment, she said her goodbyes to the young couple, leaving them with an information package about the services and processes available.

Two weeks later, Padmé was a week into the treatment, and the centre requested the pair back to see how her hormone levels were; if they were satisfactory, then they could begin increasing the ones specific to reproduction, and from then they could monitor her ovulation, and begin prepping the DNA for implantation.

After many blood tests, a test of her blood pressure and a mental health questionnaire, the doctors deemed her healthy enough to begin the process. Madam Vokara Che had been brought in to consult on the case, and she had stated many times that it was nice not to be dealing with Anakin for getting himself injured - he was in her wards far too often in her opinion. Furthermore, this was the first situation in which a Jedi chose to have children this way, so she would add it to her medical notes.

After another week, Padmé's body was ready, as was the DNA, so the operation began. It would be another two weeks until Padmé would begin to show signs of pregnancy if it succeeded, so in the meantime she continued her senatorial duties.

Later that day, Padmé was in her office when she read an alert. Battle droids had attacked Naboo! The Queen had requested her presence immediately, and Padmé would not refuse. She sent a message to Jar-Jar Binks, informing him of their requested departure. Quickly sending a message to Anakin that she was due off world, she left her office and began to pack.

I'm gonna post what I've written so far for this chapter, I'm currently on meds that can cause mania and insomnia so idk when I will finish this. In the meantime, enjoy!
