As Padmé lay on the bed next to Ahsoka, she thought back to her time in the bunker. She was trapped for three days, and each day she was sick; it couldn't have been a coincidence what with her and Anakin trying for a child. She knew in all likelihood that she was pregnant, but it was surely too soon to be showing signs, right? Perhaps Ahsoka would be able to sense something, if the babies were force sensitive, and they probably were, she'd be able to tell.

Ahsoka was beginning to stir, it was hard to breathe, and vastly too bright, but at least she was alive. Looking to her left, she saw Padmé lying next to her, her face contorted in worry and confusion. Across the hall, the members of the 501st that she had led in lay. She shifted herself up slightly so as to get a better view of who was there. Rex, Jesse, Fives, and Hawk were all asleep, Kix was tending to Crack and Beef with the aid of the Nubian doctors. Upon hearing a stir from Ahsoka, two doctors rushed to her side.

"Padawan Tano, please lie down, we have to run some tests before you can get up."

A doctor's voice rang through her dazed state, drawing get attention to the tag on her finger and heart rate monitor beeping quietly beside her. After around ten minutes, the doctors deemed her well enough to sit without breathing apparatus, at which point she indicated towards Padmé. The senator's force signature was clouded with pain and anxiety, and that troubled the young Jedi immensely.

Padmé was lying in her bed when a young doctor came over towards her, she didn't think anyone knew she was awake, so the attention was surprising. As the doctor was checking her blood pressure, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach, doubling over at the sensation.

"Senator Amidala! Are you alright? Can you tell me what's wrong?" The doctor's voice was full of concern, but any fear had been pushed down, the woman had a job to do.

Gasping through the pain, Padmé managed to say a breathy "curtains, please." The doctor knew her meaning, secluding them from the rest of the ward. Glancing down at her patient, she noticed a growing red stain on the bedding, a bad sign to say the least.
"Senator, please, can you tell me what's going on?"

Padmé was now sobbing, she too had noticed the stain, and could sense what was happening. Her baby was dying. Through the tears, she managed enough words to explain the situation.

"Pregnant... Baby... Dying... Help me!"

Realising this was an emergency, the doctor pressed the alarm, and within seconds, a flurry of nurses were moving the young woman to a private room.

Upon noticing that it was the senator who's alarm had been sounded, Kix immediately commed his general, the man would need to know if something was happening to his wife.

Anakin, who had been surveying the area of the bunker with Obi-Wan, quickly froze in place, eliciting a few concerned looks from his men. His com then buzzed, and he answered with such rapidity that I've could assume he already knew what was happening.

"General."

"Yes Kix? What is it? What's wrong?" Anakin's voice was frantic, some of his best friend's were under Kix's care, including his wife.

"It's senator Amidala sir, she's been taken into a private ward under red alert, I suggest you come back immediately. I don't know what is happening as I have to tend to our men, but someone will inform you. Just, get here as soon as you can."

Obi-Wan, who had been next to Anakin from the moment he froze, gave the young Jedi a courteous nod and a gentle squeeze of the arm. If something was wrong with Padmé, then neither of them would be able to work without worrying, and Anakin would most likely break down after a while. Turning towards his soldiers, he gave them a brief explanation as to why their general was sprinting back to the shuttles.

It was an hour later that Anakin arrived in Theed, by which time vague news of Padmé's condition had spread throughout the palace. All staff knew of the Jedi's relationship with their beloved senator, and thus didn't dare chide him on running through the halls like a madman. As he got closer to his love, her pain was radiating through the force, causing him to begin crying heavily. Finally he reached her room, and, after composing himself, he knocked on the durasteel door.

A young female doctor opened it and quickly ushered him inside, closing the door with haste once he was in. Upon seeing his wife lay asleep in a hospital bed, tear tracks staining her beautiful face, he couldn't maintain his mask of composure. The doctor guided him to a nearby chair, and explained the situation to him.

"Master Jedi, I'm so very sorry, but it appears that your wife has had a miscarriage. We believe it is linked to the fact that she contracted the virus, and the lack of oxygen caused by it. I'll give you some time to grieve, please press that button if you need anything."

The words rattled in his brain, he hadn't even known she was pregnant. Sure, they were trying, but to have succeeded, and then have it ripped away, it was like losing his mother all over again. After a while, he wasn't sure how long, he realised that what he felt was the death of his child. That horrid wave through the force, just before Kix called him, that was his baby dying. All because of that sleemo separatist and his vile work. The man would pay for what he did. He would pay if it was the last thing Anakin did. The young Jedi's heart broke that day, and it would be a long time before anything could mend it, if anything could at all.
