We barely made it to school before the bell, as Mikayla and I bought three smoothies for us and Jaxon from McDonald's. I was confused about what to order for Jaxon but Mikayla said he liked banana fruit blend, which I didn't question how she knew. Elijah was coming to school but he and Mikayla had a fight for which they were not talking to each other.

"So, Abby, who gave you that ring?"

For a second, I thought she wasn't talking to me since I was getting used to being called Rose.

"Oh, I just got it from a dollar store," I lied.

"Sure," Mikayla said narrowing her eyes at me, "If you say so, girl. But, missy, if you are hiding some boy-"

"I'm not," I spoke out laughing at the end. I wanted to tell her about William. But that would end up in me going to a therapist. Or worst, an asylum.

The bell saved me as I gave her a quick hug and rushed to my first period. Jaxon had saved me a seat on the fourth row as I saw him waving at me. I made my way and plopped down, placing the smoothie on his desk.

"Wow, you got my flavour right," he said shocked.

"Oh no, it wasn't me, Mikkie was the one who got you that," I replied shrugging.

He seemed more shocked but quickly masked it before I could see a reaction.

The teacher made her way and the class started, but I peeked at Jaxon who had confusion etched on his face, deep in thoughts.

At lunch, the cafeteria was a little less crowded than usual, maybe for the upcoming Halloween party. The gym room didn't resemble its former self but turned into a whole new place with the dark curtains and a maze in the middle for the student's participation, the ideas from our art teacher, Mr. Scotch to raise funds. A lot was yet to be done and Jaxon and I had decided to volunteer by ditching our last period.

"Hey, can I also join you guys after school?" Mikayla asked sitting across us. I looked around the cafeteria before sitting down only to find Elijah eyeing us from his seat.

I was about to say sure but Jaxon cut in the middle,

"Um, I remember my mum told me she needed help, so you guys can carry on without me," Jaxon spoke hastily and shot away from his seat.

I was baffled by his sudden response. Just now, he was so excited about making pumpkin yarns but backed out when Mikayla wanted to join.

Mikayla opened her mouth to speak but Elijah approached her from behind,

"Mikkie, we need to talk."

I took this opportunity and slipped away to find Jaxon. Just when I thought he went to the field, I saw him standing under the same oak tree where I had seen William lying down once.

"Jaxon!"

His head snapped at my call for him.

"What's up?" He tried to act casual but I saw straight through him.

"Spill it," I said sternly.

"It's nothing okay? Really-" He stopped when he saw that I wasn't buying any of his words.

He sighed before saying,

"I like Mikkie, okay? I know she has a boyfriend and that's why I'm keeping my distance from her. Elijah also warned me-"

"Elijah warned you?" I scoffed, cutting him.

"He thinks Mikkie likes me or something, and I feel like they are fighting over something related to me."

Now that he mentioned it, Mikkie did tell that Elijah was telling her to stop talking to someone. She felt very angry and said he couldn't control her and whatnot. I completely agreed with her and felt like telling about Elijah and Britney.

I needed to tell her.

I squeezed Jaxon's shoulder as a reassurance but felt bad seeing him this way.

William was being really irrational. He wouldn't even let me use the washroom before I solved a question he found in my physics textbook. I shouldn't have told him that my exams were nearing. Ever since then, he acted strictly and even glared at me when I said I didn't feel like studying.

"Come on, I don't even know this topic," I huffed in frustration but William stood to his ground.

"I remember teaching you about it, come on, try solving it," he said flicking the pages of some magazine without even looking at me.

I glared at him with my nose flaring but still looked at the question. It seemed impossible. I tried thinking of other ways of solving it and suddenly thought it can be solved with Newton's laws. I love Newton.

"Here," I said dropping my pen as I rushed to the bathroom.

Finishing my business, I came out to see William smiling at me.

"Good job, the method's unique but it's correct," he said with an impressed look.

"See, you can solve it with a little determination."

"Thank you, I couldn't have solved it without you clearing my basics," I said with an honest smile.

It was true. Physics seemed impossible before he cleared all my confusion, starting from the very basic.

He blushed a little with my compliment but his smile didn't falter. If anything, it got bigger as if he thought of something.

"You have studied enough, let's go somewhere," he suggested.

"Where?"

"I know the perfect place, you're gonna love it."

My mind started racing with all the thoughts of going somewhere new with him.

"At least tell me where it is."

"You will see," he said as he grabbed my hand tugging me downstairs. Aristotle and Trixie were running all around the place as Aunt Kelly continued her baking, bobbing her head to the song from the radio.

We both quietly slipped through the front door unnoticed by them all.

"There's a problem," William said frowning, "it's a little far away."

An idea popped in my head but I was scared. But I decided to take this step. I wasn't alone, William was there with me.

"We can take my car," I blurted, blocking out all the memories.

William stilled, his eyes shining with a sudden emotion but he quickly masked it and replied,

"Awesome."

I walked back in to take the keys but frowned thinking about his sudden hesitation.
