I'll be alright, just not tonight.

{Marianna}

We finally got rid of the women who was nothing to me, but the one who I shared DNA with. It's been a week since she was taken by the cops. Jane has amazed us all with her skills of mothering. She went out and got a job a few days ago. She won't tell us what. All I know is that she gets paid every week and it's enough for us to live off of.

Jack and Ashton's relationship is about as wishy-washy as a roller coaster. Jack has left three times, twice in one day, but he keeps coming back. I'm happy for her.

Lauren and Alec are getting along quiet well. Lauren is talking more to us and she's really funny. I think she fits in well with our little family.

I haven't told anyone about what happened a few weeks back, because I'm to nervous to tell Ashton and Jane's barely around. But I know it's safe here so I'll just say it.

"Marianna?" I heard Ashton call.

I sighed, putting my journal under my mattress and exiting my room.

"Yes Ashton." I walked down the stairs. I knew where she was because of the small echo the room gave off.

"Have you seen that envelope that had my name on it? I was sure it was in this room." She had a few boxes open and papers were everywhere.

"Isn't it in her room?" I started to clean up the pile of papers that were going to fall.

"The doors locked. I already tried to get in." She put the papers back that she held and closed the box.

"Ashton Carly McCarthy, the girl who climbs through windows, runs across a field and sneaks off, is stopped by a locker door." We both looked up and saw Jane with a smirk plastered on her face.

"I tried, I said that Janella. It's impossible. And I can't wake up either of the little ones by busting the door." Ashton moved boxes so she could get out of the tiny room.

"Did you try and take off the knob?" Jane asked.

"Yup. Nothing. I even tried to break it off." Ashton went past her and went into the kitchen.

"Her window." I whispered.

"Her what Anna?" Ashton looked up from the fridge.

"Her window was always just a crack open so when she was smoking, it vented a little. Can you climb through?" I spoke carefully.

"Her windows the one by the edge of the garage right?" Jane asked.

I nodded. "That's why she knew you would hide there."

"Bitch, but anyways. I can try. I really want that envelope." Ashton closed the door and started eating the apple she took out.

"Wait, what envelope?" Jane looked at Ashton with her "mum face."

"The tickets? To that stupid Magcon thing? Remember. You're the one who wanted to go but they are my birthday present. I wanna check the date." Ashton stood up straight at her sister.

For being just over a year apart, they looked like twins. The one difference was the fact that Jane had blonde hair and Ashton was a brunette and they're eyes. Jane's were a bright blue, that I've only seen on a boy that I saw on YouTube once. Ashton's eyes changed, depending on her mood. You could tell if she was high or had been drinking if they were green. Other then that, they were dark grey. I was jealous of them because I've got my mothers eyes, which are light brown.

"Be careful when your up there. Please ask Jack to help you." Jane grabbed her coat. "I'm going to work. Be home around 10. Love you." And with that she left.

"Bye Jane." I said to the closed door.

"Where's the little ones?" Ashton turned to me.

"Alec's sleeping, and I'm sure Lauren is too. It's quiet in their room."

"I'm going to call Jack and see where he his. Then I'm going to break into her room. What are you going to do?"

I thought about the possibilities. I could take the kids to the park, or I could go shopping, or I could finish cleaning Ashton's room or I could keep writing.

"I'm going to finish cleaning up your mess. Don't you remember that there is someone coming to check on us in a few days?" I put our dirty dishes from breakfast into the sink and started to fill it.

"Marianna, have you ever thought about getting high?" Her question surprised me.

"Well no, not really. Jane told me that it's bad for me and it will affect my brain." I started washing the dishes.

"Jane's full of it. It's so fun. It helps you forget." Ashton's voice slowly dropped.

I nodded.

"You've been different. You okay?" She asked. I turned towards her.

"I'll be alright." I gave her a small smile.

"You sure?" Ashton walked over to the counter beside me and started drying.

"Just not tonight." I added after a pause.

{Happy New Year! Hope you all have a happy, healthy and safe 2015. I'll update next week.}
