He backed up when the human swung their head to see the jar. They also seemed to notice the dog, as they took their earbuds out and walked over and grabbed the dog setting her gently on the floor, away from the glass. Janus thought perhaps they didn't notice him but when the human turned back to look at the broken glass they gasped when they saw Janus. He backed up even more as he looked up at the human towering over him. They blinked a few times before completely forgetting the broken jar and they kneeled down next to the table, staring at Janus with wide eyes.
"Hello there little guy! Did my dog scare you? I'm sorry about that!" Janus flinched at the human's words and they gasped, realizing how loud their words must be to the tiny thing.
"Sorry," They said gently. "Are you stuck? Do you need help down?" Janus hesitantly pointed towards the hook at the edge of the table. The human looked down at it and seemed to understand. They grabbed up the hook and handed it to Janus. They stood up, backing away and said, "I should probably clean up the jar now.." They left after that and headed over to where Janus assumes they must keep the broom. He just stood there staring, did the human really just let him go? Just like that? He shook his head and thought to himself,
"Either way I need to take this chance to leave. Hopefully the dog won't be anymore trouble today."

He swung the hook and it caught on the vent. He held onto it as he used his feet to catch himself from hitting the wall, then he began climbing up to the vent and once he did, he slipped through the broken piece, which made a larger opening that he could actually fit through. He pulled his hook back up, coiled it, and hung it on his side. He then went back to his home, very great full to have survived all of that.

He was still rather surprised by the fact that the human hadn't tried to scoop him up. That's what he'd been taught from such a young age, that you should never let a human see you cause they'll just scoop you up and take you. Or worse... he shook away his thoughts. This human was nice to him so he was safe. That's all that mattered right now.

After a few days he realized he needed to get food again. He was nervous but he had done this so many times before, so he took a deep breath and headed out. The human was out for work and the dog had finally fallen asleep. Based of the light from the window the human would be back in a few minutes though, so he didn't have much time but he should have enough to get food for today.

As he got next to the counter he reached for his hook so he could get up and- Janus face palmed. He had left his hook and needle at home; he'd forgotten his stuff again! He needed to get ahold of himself. He groaned as he started to head back, he could go another day without food, he'd be fine. As he got near one of the entrances to the wall he froze. There was a spider crawling around, probably looking for a spot to make a web. He backed up slowly but it was too late, the spider had already seen him. He began running away from the spider, looking over his shoulder every now and then. He stopped abruptly when he saw the spider's web, realizing it was trying to chase him into it, he turned around seeing the spider a maybe two feet away. Maybe he had time to run? Just as he was about to make a run for it the door swung open and the human came in. Janus looked with wide eyes up at them, they were casting a shadow over him and scared him much more than the spider.
