His Hero- Part two: An Old Friend

          Roman spun around when he heard the little guy cry out.
"No! Please! Let me out! Let me leave!" Roman quickly went over and pulled Patton out of the jar.
"Hey, hey, it's ok, I'm sorry. I didn't know you didn't like being there, I just wanted to set you somewhere where you wouldn't damage your leg any further, it's just me..." Roman felt a pang of guilt as he looked at Patton. He had no idea Patton would react like that. Roman heard him gasping and then noticed that he settled down a bit.
"I'm sorry, are you ok?" Patton looked up at him and nodded. He could tell the little guy was close to tears.
"I-I'm o-o-ok..." Roman's heart sank as he heard Patton's voice cracking but he wasn't sure if it was from stress or from not using his voice for who knows how long. He felt Patton collapse again but he didn't know if he was unconscious or just tried, weak, and stressed out. He gently nudged him in the side and when there was no response he set Patton down on a pillow.  Roman looked back over to the jar. Why had Patton freaked out like that?

When Patton woke again he immediately sat up, looking around. He looked back down to see the pillow then back up again. He relaxed as he remembered he was with Roman now. He wondered how he got on the pillow then he remembered the jar. He shuddered and vaguely recalled that Roman had taken him out. He was surprised that Roman had listened to him. He looked around the room but the jar wasn't there anymore...

Patton's head jolted towards the doorway when he heard Roman humming a song. He watched the human enter and set his phone down to look at Patton. Roman's eyes widened as he noticed he was already awake.
"Oh! Hi Patton, are you doing ok?" He nodded and Roman sat on the floor, looking up to Patton. He was surprised to be looking down to Roman.
"So.. you hadn't answered earlier but.. Do you want to go back to a pet store now that you've got bandages..?" Patton looked away. He wanted to stay with Roman, he seemed nice, but if Roman wanted him to leave...
"If you want to send me back to a pet store than you can go ahead..." Roman looked at him for a moment.
"I want to know what you want. I'd be more than happy to let you stay here." Patton gasped and looked back towards him.
"I-" He took a moment to collect his thoughts. "You can just send me back..." He doubted Roman actually wanted him there but a shiver ran down his back when he thought of going back to the store. All the people... all the animals... Roman paused.
"I think you can just stay here." Patton looked up to Roman, he was smiling softly towards him. Patton felt a smile tug at his lips, Roman was actually going let him stay. Once Roman saw his smile, he grinned. Roman set a hand next to Patton and he flinched away but.. he still felt safe.
"Would you want some food now? I don't know what all I have that you could eat but I'd assume you're hungry.." Patton paused for just a moment before getting onto the hand.

Once they got to the kitchen, Roman held Patton to his chest as he checked the fridge and cabinets for some food for Patton. He got out some applesauce and got out a spoon.
"This is probably really weird but I didn't really expect to find a tiny out in my yard when coming home.." Patton didn't really care. He was just happy to have applesauce. It was really sweet, he loved it.

After Patton was done he just stopped eating and looked up to Roman. Roman flashed him a smile before putting everything away and then heading back to the room. He set Patton down on the nightstand and looked at the time. It was 9:30, the pet store closed at 10.
"Would you want to come with me while I go shopping? I'm gonna get you a bed and some other stuff you'll need..." He saw the tiny nod and he set his hand out again. He saw fear flash through his eyes while he flinched back. Roman could tell it wasn't personal but it hurt to see the poor thing scared. Patton climbed onto his hand and he set off for his car.
