Virgil watched as the human left the room. Once they'd left he turned to his friend.
"Can the human hear us right now?"
"No, Roman can't hear us." He nodded.
"Good..." He looked down to the cast on their leg. He was probably bought so he could take care of them...
"I noticed you flinch every time he reaches for you..." Virgil saw a thought flash go through threw his friend's eyes but he couldn't tell what it was.
"Y-Yeah.. I noticed you don't get scared anymore..." Virgil took note of the sudden subject change but thought back to when they'd both been at the store. Both had changed a lot since his friend had been bought...
"Mhm. So how'd you end up here? That doesn't look like who originally bought you..."
"Oh.. Well he found me when I, Uh.. got lost..." Virgil stared at his friend, he wanted to trust them but they obviously weren't telling him the full truth, if any at all. He looked around the room and sat down. Then the human came back in. Virgil swung his head around and stared at him.
"Hi, I got you guys some Cheerios..." He handed them both a 'Cheerio' and Virgil noticed as Patton flinched again. "I'm gonna head to the store now, I'll be back soon." Virgil watched as the human left again and then he turned to his friend, who was already eating their food.
"Virgil..? Are you going to eat??" He shook his head.
"Virgil..." He felt as their gaze scanned over him. "You need to eat... You look way to skinny." Virgil looked down at himself then back to his friend. He was given pleading eyes and he sighed.
"Fine, I'll eat it."Once they were both finished eating Virgil looked back to him.
"So what'd he name you?"
"Oh! That's right, sorry, I'm Patton now!" Patton gave him a wide smile.
"So he re-named you?" His friend's eyes widened for a moment before he looked down to his feet.
"Well.. yeah.." Patton turned his head up again. "I asked him to though, he hadn't wanted to." Virgil looked at the cast and thought back to him flinching. He scanned over Patton again.
"Do you have any other casts or bandages??" Patton raised an eyebrow but lifted his shirt.
"Well I've got this.." He pointed at the bandage that wrapped his torso. "Why?" Virgil stared a bit longer. The cast, bandages and flinching bugged him.
"Does this human.. hurt you?" Patton gasped.
"What? No! Of course not! Roman is really nice, he'd never do that..." He saw Patton shudder a bit.
"Then how'd you break your leg and get the bandages?" Patton looked over the cast then back.
"I had fallen out of a bird's nest... That's when Roman had found me..."
"I thought you said he found you when you were lost, how'd you end up in a birds nest? What about the person who bought you? Did they just leave you there?" Patton looked to the ground.
"It's a long story..."
"We have time."~ * ~
Roman came inside with a few bags. He could hear the tinys talking but he couldn't make out any words. He didn't try to though, he didn't want to eves drop. He set his keys down and headed to the kitchen to put up a few things. After that he gently knocked on the wall before coming into the room.
"...Said tha-" Patton turned to look at him and smiled. "Hi!" Virgil turned around too.
"Hi." Roman gave them a small smile.
"So I got this since we only had Patton's.." He held another small bed up and Patton turned to Virgil. He carefully set it on the night stand then sat on the floor. Virgil furrowed his brow as he looked down to him.
"So what do you guys wanna do now?" Virgil glared a moment then turned to Patton. Patton just turned to Roman. "We could play a game or watch a show?" Patton tilted his head and Virgil just sat in silence.
"What's a show...?" Roman was surprised Patton didn't know what it was, in the pet shop Virgil mentioned Patton had previously been bought by someone, did they not watch anything or did they just never talk about them around Patton?
"Well... it's like a filmed play..." Patton raised a brow at play so he continued. "Plays are like stories but written and acted out... You know what a story is right?" Patton nodded and smiled.
"Can we watch a show?" Roman nodded and looked towards Virgil. He stared back.
"What do you want."
"Would you want to watch the show with us?"
"No." He turned away.
"Ok, well if you need anything.. just call out I guess? If I hear you I'll come but if not then.. I don't know.."
Virgil turned back with wide eyes.
"You'd actually just let me stay here?"
"Uh.. yeah?"
He looked to Patton then back to Roman. They all sat in silence for a moment then Roman slowly set his hand out for Patton. This time Patton barley flinched and didn't hesitate before getting onto the hand. Patton looked back to Virgil.
"Are you sure you don't wanna watch a show?"
"Patton.." Virgil sighed. "Ok fine, I'll watch." He looked to Roman then turned to the hand. "So... why not just pick us up?"
"Patton seemed really scared when that happened so I started doing this so he had the choice to come or not..." Virgil stared for another moment then sat next to Patton. Roman picked his hand up then headed to the living room. He put them down on top of the couch and sat down to their left. Virgil stared at him as he turned the TV on. Patton stared at the TV with an open mouth and wide eyes. Roman guessed he'd never seen a TV before, which confused him, but he went to Netflix.~ * ~
They all watched TV for a few hours and then ate dinner. Afterwards Roman picked them up and went back to the room and set them on the nightstand. Patton watched as Roman grabbed pajamas then left. Once he was out of the room Virgil turned to look at Patton.
"This human is... really nice..."
"Yeah, he's a lot nicer than the others we've meet..." Patton paused. "Should we go to bed then?" Virgil nodded and sat in his bed. Patton curled up and Roman came back in. He shut off the light then got into bed. Patton stared in the darkness. His mind was filled with thoughts about today. It seemed like things were actually going to get better... After a few moments he slowly drifted into sleep. When Patton woke, he sat up quickly before settling again. It was force of habit but he felt guilty when it happened in front of Roman. Luckily, the human seemed to already be out for work. He looked around. Virgil was still asleep and there were raspberries on a saucer. Patton smiled and got out of bed. He went over and shook Virgil. He turned a bit then opened his eyes. He seemed half asleep but he tried blinking it away.
"Mhhhm. What's up?"
"Good morning, Virgil! Roman left us raspberries!" He walked over to the saucer. He looked back to Virgil but he was still laying in bed. Patton came back over. "Virgil, come eat!" Patton grabbed his arm and began dragging him out of bed. Virgil moved way to easily and he stopped. "Virgil, you need to eat!" He just groaned but stood up anyway.
"Uh huh, yeah.." He yawned then went over to the raspberries and sat down. When they were done eating, Patton smiled at Virgil.
"So what should we do while Roman's gone?" Virgil blinked. They sat for a moment.
"Well with games all I can think of would need to be back at the pet store so I guess games are out of the question."
"Hmmm... would you be able to use the remote for the TV?" Virgil shook his head.
"Even if I could, how would we get there?" Patton looked down.
"Well then what do we do?"
"We could make a new game? We made lots back in the pet store, I'm sure we could make up a new one."
Patton nodded and began thinking. Virgil looked around, then he looked down to his feet.
"What if- No..." Patton looked away again.
"Maybe- hmm.. Ok, If you had to choose, would you want to live in the wild or in a house with a human that doesn't know you exist." Patton looked back up.
"So it's like a choosing game? I'd choose..." He thought for a moment. "I think I'd want to live in a house, the wild is.. scary..." Patton shivered as he thought about the birds and Virgil nodded.
"Ok.. Now you give me a choice...?" Patton smiled.
"Ok! Hmm..." He thought for a moment. "Would you rather have stayed in the pet store or been bought by Roman but I wasn't here." He watched as Virgil thought for a moment.
"Well... I guess I'd rather be here. He doesn't grab at me or squeeze me or pin me against things or... well he's just really careful and nice." Virgil paused again.
"Would you rather be back with your old owner or get lost after meeting Roman and stuff." Patton thought for a moment.
"Well... if I were lost he'd be able to find me eventually, right? . . . Anything's better then my old owner...." Virgil nodded. "Would you want to be stuck somewhere but no one bothers you, or roam free but people will find you every now and then."
"I'd want to be stuck where no one bothers me..."
Patton smiled.
"You know, this is a pretty fun game. I like it!" Virgil smirked.
"I'm glad you're having fun, Pat." Patton almost squealed. Virgil has smiled! Well he smirked but at least it was something.
"I'm glad you were still there and that you were able to come here with me, I missed you... I hated being bought until Roman found me but it's still nice to be around another tiny."
"I missed you too, Patton... I'm also glad I got to come here..."
"What did you do when I was gone anyway? It didn't seem like any other tinys were in your.. cage..."
"Well.. I guess since you caught me up with your life I may as well do the same, huh.. But don't expect anything, It's not very interesting."
