Roman came home and heard the tinys talking again. He looked at his phone. 7:30 pm. He put his keys down and went to the kitchen and grabbed two strawberries. He headed back to the room. When he came in Patton and Virgil turned to him. Patton was smiling again but Virgil just stared.
"Hi, I got strawberries.." He gave each tiny one. "So how was it at home while I was gone?"
"Well me and Virgil made up a game so it was kinda fun but we were just stuck up here the whole time..."
"Well I could probably build you, like, stairs or something?" Roman looked over to Virgil. He was just staring at the strawberry. "Virgil, are you going to eat? I don't mean to sound rude but you're rather skinny..." Virgil sighed as he rolled his eyes.
"Really? I had no idea." The sarcasm in Virgil's voice was impossible to miss but he started eating anyway. Roman smiled then stood up and headed out to the living room.

He sat on the couch and decided to look up ways to build the stairs on YouTube. He found a tutorial and after skimming it he looked back up. He would have to go and get stuff to build the steps but it shouldn't be to hard. He looked at his phone again. It was 7:38, the store he was going to would be closing in 22 minutes... He went over to the room to tell them he'd be leaving.

Virgil spun around at Roman's voice.
"Just so you know I'll be gone for maybe.. half an hour, I'll be back soon though." He watched as the human left before Patton could even wave goodbye.
"Guess he's in a hurry..."
"Yeah, where do you think he's going?" Virgil just shrugged. "Should we play a game again?"
"Sure, the choice game...?" Patton thought for a moment.
"What about that one game we used to play where we made up stories?" Virgil nodded.
"Yeah we could play that... who starts?"
"I can! Once upon a time, there was a cat!"
"This cat was named... Pumpkin.."

Roman came home and checked his watch. 8:17. He set everything down and went to check on the tinys.
"What?! No! Pumpkin would definitely save Graham!"
"You said you wanted more twists." He heard Virgil chuckle a bit then stop himself. Roman had no idea what was going on but he came in anyway and sat next to the nightstand. Patton smiled and Virgil actually seemed quite amused.
"So I've got the stuff to build you guys stairs.." Patton smiled then paused.
"Should we leave while you build them?"
"Well you guys could watch TV?" Patton's eyes lit up so Roman set his hand out. Patton didn't hesitate but Virgil did. It was only for a moment, then he sat next to Patton. Roman set them down on the couch then turned on Hamilton. He hummed along with the intro as he went back to the room.

After Roman finished the stairs he looked it over. He had built a wall on the other side of the stairs too, he didn't want Patton to fall. He went back out as cabinet battle #1 was leading up to the end of Alexander's verse. He heard Patton gasp and he stifled a laugh, then he noticed that Virgil was asleep and leaning on Patton's shoulder. He smiled as he came over.
"The stairs are done, I assume you want to finished the movie..?" Patton tilted his head then smiled.
"Oh, yeah! I hope he can get his plan thingy to work." Roman smiled.

After the movie was done he looked back to Patton and Virgil, they were both sleeping. Roman turned the TV off and he gently scooped them up, trying not to wake them. He set them in their beds and then he went to sleep.

Patton gasped and shot up. He could feel tears against his face and he sat, curling in on himself, as he tried to calm down.
"It was just a nightmare, it wasn't real.." He rocked himself side to side as he tried to stop anymore tears. He flinched and almost fell off the bed when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and saw Virgil's silhouette next to him.
"Pat... What's wrong?" He took in a shaky breath as he unfurled to look at Virgil.
"N-nothing.. I'm fine.." Virgil sat next to him.
"Patton," He wiped away a tear that was still on his cheek. "You're obviously not ok.. What happened?" Patton looked away.
"I- I had a nightmare about... my past owner..." He felt as Virgil's arms wrapped around him in a hesitant hug.
"..You're ok now.. You don't have to worry about him anymore.." Patton sighed as he leaned into Virgil.

After a while Virgil seemed to fall asleep and Patton  looked around the room. Suddenly, he felt a shiver run down his back. He leaned into Virgil again as he remembered that he still lived next to his old owner.

He couldn't sleep after that and he stayed up all night. He didn't mind much though, it was cool to watch as the light slowly started flooding through the house. He jolted his head around when he heard Roman's bed creak. The human slowly sat up then looked to him with wide eyes.
"Why are you awake so early...?" Patton shifted. Would he be mad that he'd stayed up all night? When he didn't respond Roman just shrugged. He got up then grabbed his clothes as he headed out of the room. Patton looked over to Virgil, he was still asleep.

When Roman came back into the room he had a few peanuts in his hand.
"Could we go to work with you..?" Roman tilted his head to the side and set down the nuts.
"I guess... I don't think you'd like being there though, it's really loud..." Patton shrugged. "Alright, if that's what you'd want then I guess you could come..." Patton smiled and turned to wake Virgil up. He just groaned and looked away.
"Let me sleep..." Patton frowned.
"But we're going somewhere!" That caught his attention. He sat up and stared at Patton.
"..Where are we going?"
"Roman said he could take us to his work!" Patton smiled brightly and Virgil just sighed.
"Ok.. fine.." He got out of bed and just stood, he looked like he could fall asleep standing there. Roman reached his hand out and Patton climbed on top, careful not to put pressure on his foot. Virgil noticed the peanuts and grabbed them before he came up and sat next to Patton.

As they got in the car, Roman set Virgil and Patton on his shoulder. Patton watched the neighbors house until it was out of sight. He turned back to see Virgil staring at him with a furrowed brow and he looked away again.

Virgil looked up at the building in front of them. It was massive. There were lots of colors and shapes, making it bright and.. kinda entrancing. Roman parked the car.
"Well.. this is where I work... it's not very loud yet but it'll get louder later.." Virgil noticed regret flash through Patton eyes before he shook it off.
"Ok! So.. what's your job anyway...?"
"Uh, well I work at a dinner theater." Virgil looked at the clock in the car; it was 10:53.
"It's not dinner time."
"Well it's open 8am to 8pm, I work 11am to 7pm."
He slowly stood up and got out of the car, he took the two off his shoulder and cupped them to his chest. Virgil noticed as Patton flinched, again.

Once they got inside they headed to what looked like a little shop and Roman set them under the counter on a shelf. He crouched down to look at them for a moment.
"This is the cashier desk, no one will come back here. Well, except my co-worker, but I'll make sure they don't hurt you.. I doubt they would anyway." He stood up and walked off as Virgil turned to Patton.
"Why were you watching the neighbors house when we first left? And why did you want to go with Roman to his work?" Virgil watched as Patton spun around with wide eyes.
"Uh- N-no reason..." Virgil stared a moment longer, which apperently got Patton to speak up.   "O-ok fine! ...I remembered last night that the neighbor is my old owner and.. It just made me.. nervous..." Virgil's heart sank. He hated seeing Patton scared but he pushed away the feeling.
"Well... Roman won't let him take you so.. you don't have anything to worry about." Patton just nodded and looked around. They sat in silence for a while but eventually they began talking to pass the time.

After a while Roman came back and came down to eye level again.
"Hey guys! I gotta go backstage and get ready so..." Roman held his hand out and Virgil and Patton both got on top.

Once they got backstage Roman went over to a corner and set them down. "I'll be right back, I promise, just give me a second." Roman went off the other way and Patton sank into the wall. The were quite a few people here and Virgil doubted Patton liked being stuck in a room with them. Roman came back and set down a one of those 'mini' backpacks,  though it was still rather big to the two tinys.
"I left this here yesterday, you guys can just hide in there for a while so you don't feel like you're.. cornered or something.." Patton smiled and Virgil helped them get inside. Patton gasped and fell back as they heard another voice.
"Roman, we gotta go, Mrs. Stewart is calling everyone in for a meeting." Virgil stumbled a bit as the backpack was slowly pushed into the corner before he heard Roman walk off. Why did Patton have to get Roman to take them here..
