The human had just gotten home and was closing the door behind them when he caught a glimpse of something on the floor. Looking down, they saw the spider. They screamed upon seeing it and dropped their keys. They fell near Janus and he yelped, jumping back. The human looked down at him, stuck in a corner near the web, then back at the spider, still headed towards Janus. Janus looked up at the human and flinched back again as he got scooped up. The human stepped over the spider and prodded the dog with their free hand. When the dog woke up they asked if she could get the spider. The dog yawned and walked away but she didn't seem to care about getting the spider, Janus doubted she understood the human anyway. The human stood back up and looked back down to Janus, just now noticing the tiny thing was trembling. They gasped and set him on the kitchen counter, apologizing profusely.

Janus stared, partly out of awe, partly out of terror. Not only had the human saved him, twice now, but he was also so kind to him.
"Oh wait.. you probably can't understand me, can you..." The human interrupted his thoughts, staring apologetically at him. Janus stared back and swallowed. Was he really not going to say anything after all the human had done for him?
"N-no.. i- I can under s-stand you.." He was so nervous and after talking it only got worse when the human just stared at him, silent.
"Oh my gosh, that's amazing!" They finally replied, "My name is Patton! What's yours?" His eyes widened again. Why was the human so nice to him?
"I- ... my- ... I'm Janus," He managed to speak, surprisingly.
"Nice to meet you! Are you a guy..?" Janus nodded, surprised at how polite the human was. He acted towards Janus as if he was an equal...
"Me too! Also, I'm sorry for picking you up.." The human- Patton, apologized, again.
"Why are you being so nice to me.." Patton gasped,
"Are most people not nice? You're a living being!" Patton then thought to himself for a moment. "You probably want me to leave, since I seem to scare you.. Well it was nice meeting you!" Patton smiled before heading off again.

Janus stood for a moment, wondering what to do. He saw Patton go and sit at the table with his laptop. He immediately felt embarrassed, remembering the dog. He was so stupid! First the dog, than the spider?? He had never been this careless before. Janus looked back around remembering he was on the counter. He wanted food but if the human caught him taking it.. would Patton be mad?? What if once he was caught stealing food he no longer got such nice words from Patton.. what if he..

No.

Patton would never do that, he was too nice... Janus went across the counter and pushed the door to the cabinet open a bit, slipping inside. He paused for a moment then continued. He needed food, wether or not Patton would get mad. He looked around then found a bag of raisins. He tipped it over and opened it up. He reached inside and got out two raisins. He began eating one and closed the bag. Then he slipped the other raisin under his arm once he was done eating the first. He went back and pushed the door again getting back onto the counter. Then he realized he had another problem, yet again. He sighed as he looked around the counter, with no way back down.
