*knock knock*

"Haywood? It's us" Steve called through the crack in the hospital room door.

silence.

Captain America frowned, knocking again before slowly pushing the door open followed by a shy Bucky. They were surprised to be greeted by an empty room and freshly made bed. While Steve went to find a nurse and ask what happened, Bucky poked around a little and found a note in your writting left on the pillow.

Dear Jack and Ace,

Bucky smiled at the familiar nicknames you had given them back during the war.

I'm sorry that I had to run out on you both like this but I really needed to get back home and let's be honest , we all know that I am the worst at goodbyes. It was good to see you both again though (even if you did just get in my way like you always do) and I promise you haven't seen the last of me yet. If  ya ever need me, I'm just a holler away.

all my love, Dynamite

Inside he found 2 smaller notes addressed to each of the super soldiers. Just then, Steve walked back in and told his friend that you had checked out early that morning and didn't leave any contact info. Bucky handed Steve your notes and continued to read.

Steve:  I can't even begin to tell you how much I've missed our talks and morning runs together. I've been keeping tabs on you and your friends and I'm so very proud of the way you've brought everyone together and made them into a team. In this ever changing world, you and your heart of gold are forever the same. Never lose that.

Bucky: похоже, что облака наконец разошлись ради нас. Я желаю тебе всего наилучшего, мой дорогой друг. (It looks like the clouds have finally parted for both of us. I wish you all the best, my dear friend. )

The two friends headed back to the tower, silent on the way home both lost in thought.

- Lily's POV-

You walked up to your apartment door keys in hand.  Something seemed off. You quickly pullout your phone and check the security cameras you had stationed in your home to see if there had been any disturbances.

no connection found

Panicking slightly, you walk around back and climb up the fire escape, entering your apartment through the window. Gun in hand, you cautiously walk around the flat, scanning for any sign of the intruder's presence. Immediately you can tell that your apartment had been ransacked, even though the people had made an obvious effort to put everything back where they belonged.

SHIELD, obviously

Everything of course, except your three computers and hard drive. Running your hand along the underside of the desk, you sigh with relief as you pull out your backup laptop. You never really understood why, but people never got to that fourth computer you had hidden away. Something about people always giving up after the number three. Checking your desk drawer, you laugh to yourself, seeing that the fake flash drive you had labeled "Top Secret! My Eyes Only!" was gone. For some reason, people always assumed hackers had one simple flash drive or file that contained all of their secrets and once they had found it, you had learned over time that they were more likely to leave without bothering to search more.

amateurs

Hungry, you walk carefully over to the counter, minding your still sore wounds, and grab an apple out of the fruit bowl. Those assholes had the nerve to take the last banana you had been saving for later. Hold up. You do a double take, this time noticing the oddly bright lime that had most definitely not been there when you left home last week. You quickly grab a gadget out of a kitchen drawer and scan the plastic fruit for inferred signals.
