Raven's POV

''Lord Burke! Bandits from the mountain are coming'' I saw a knight shouting with an injired shoulder.

''Nonsense, you can't even handle such filthy peasants!'' The count was enraged

''Is something wrong father?'' Henry asked with a worried look

''They don't seem to be ordinary bandits, it seems that they are knights in disguise'' the knight said

''It must be them, that coward-'' the Count couldn't finish his sentence as he was shot by an arrow

''Father!'' Henry shouted

I couldn't bear to see anymore

No! No more

''NO'' I shouted as I sat up in my bed

That was such a gruesome nightmare. What was it trying to say.

Days have passed by since the Count and his son stayed in our dukedom.

Today's the last day of their stay.

A lot has happened and I really don't get along with Henry, but I still accompany him as my father ordered me to.

''Young master, the Duke has informed everyone to be prrsent for lunch along with the count'' my maid said as she prepared my formal clothes.

I changed and went downstairs to the dinning area.

I arrived after my mother and sister. Then the count and Henry came afterwards. The last to come was my father.

''I hope that we've made your stay here a pleasant one'' My father said to the Count of Burke

''Yes, I hope to visit again soon'' the count said with a big laugh

Lunch ended and we went to see Count Burke and Henry's departure.

''Farewell Raven, you too Rebecca'' Henry said as he went inside the carriage along with the count.

I feel really uneasy for some reason. We may not be that close but my gut feeling somehow tells me not to let them go.

''Can't you stay?'' I asked and saw Henry with a surprised look

He then smiled at me, ''Don't be such a baby, I will visit sooner or later''

The carriage went and it became smaller as it goes farther and as time passed, I could no longer see them.

I went back to my room and as evening passed by, I couldn't sleep at all.

The next day came and I went downstairs. The mansion looked glum and I noticed something went wrong.

We ate breakfast as we normally do.

As soon as we finished, father took a deep sigh, ''It is unfortunate, but news of the Count and his son has spread''

I was too shocked to say anything.

''How did they die?'' mom asked with a sad look on her face

''They were killed by bandits and the carriage was set on fire. Remains of the Count and his son were found inside of it''

''Bad luck just came upon them, how unfortunate'' Rebecca commented

I just clenched my fist and grit my teeth. I felt to guilty. I could've stopped them if I was stubborn enough.

''I'm going to leave early'' I said as I went dashing into my room

I couldn't dare to shed a tear.

I mean, how could I?

I knew it was going to happen.

I'm such a jerk. I couldn't even treat him well when all he wanted was a friend.

I then saw a piece of letter near the door.

I went closer to see it and picked it up.

Dear Raven,

I am sorry if I was too straight forward. You see I never had a friend, so I made a resolution to make one. Luckily, you and Rebecca are my age. The next time I come here, I hope to be truly friends with you that doesn't make you uneasy.

Sincerley yours,
Henry

That was the content of the letter. As soon as I finished reading it, I burst into tears.

If God let me have this ability to prevent calamity, then I should use it.

I shall never let this incident happen to anyone again.

I shall protect every single one of them...
