⚠️ EMOTIONS ⚠️

Saying it was hard to drive in the rain while crying, was an understatement. You had to actively focus on not swerving or crossing the line. You were sure that if an officer saw you, you'd have been pulled over.

You were on your way to Freddie's house. You knew you had to go see him but as his health declined, it just got harder and harder for you to go.

You had a history with Freddie. It started back in the 70's. Right around when Queen was starting to get popular. To everyone else, you were just a roadie. But not to Freddie.

He had no idea why he was so fascinated with you. He found that he constantly wanted to be in your company. So he asked you out.

You dated Freddie for years before he came out. You loved him and he loved you. It just took you a while to realize that he didn't love you in quite the same way.

The break up wasn't as bad as people might've thought. You wanted Freddie to be happy and you knew for that to happen, you had to let him go. It was hard but you knew it was for the best.

Even though you were no longer together, you still wanted Freddie to be apart of your life. And so he was. He was absolutely your best friend and you were his.

"But you have so many friends. How could I be your best one," you would ask.

"You mean so much more to me than anybody else in my life. You have no competition," Freddie had answered.

You stayed as close as a person could get with him, but recently you hadn't seen him as much as usual. Watching him deteriorate before your eyes wasn't something you wanted to see anymore.

Freddie had told you about his diagnosis before anybody else. Back then, you were convinced that they'd find a cure. He would get better and live out the rest of his life as if nothing had ever happened.
But it wasn't to be.

Freddie only got worse. He was in constant pain. He had become severely underweight. Practically just skin and bones. Seeing him looking so pale while filming the music video for These Are The Days Of Our Lives, made you finally realize that he wasn't going to get better.

That's why you had to see him. As you pulled your car up to the curb outside of his mansion, you tried to dry any last tears. If you could help it, Freddie would not see you cry.

Before you could even knock on the door, Jim opened it. He smiled softly at you before gesturing for you to come inside and giving you a hug.

"He's been expecting you."

You looked down at your hands. "I'm sorry I didn't come sooner."

"Well, why don't you go see him," Jim suggested, quietly. "I think I'm going to go outside for a bit."

Even after Jim had left, you still stood at the bottom of the stairs. You were too scared to go up. You didn't know what you would see.

It's just Freddie up there, you told yourself over and over. You finally worked up the courage and made yourself walk up the stairs. You hesitantly knocked on the door to the room that Freddie was in.

"Well, why're you knocking, Jim? Just come in," Freddie said from inside the room.

You chuckled and pushed the door open. "I'm sorry to disappoint but it's just me, Fred."
