|A little preview before we get started|
The sound of a loud thud in the distance startled me up. Did I doze off?
I looked at the front, Donovan's chair was empty. I looked to the side, Ezra's chair was empty. There were no words for the panic that surged through me at that moment.
"Sage" I heard a familiar voice. One that I had heard so many times and could still take my attention anytime.
No. Was I dreaming?
I strained my eyes at the door to see if I was hearing correct or indeed delusional from weakness. But I wasn't wrong. The candlelight illuminated a tall figure closing in. One that I could recognise from a mile away.
"Axel" I breathed. I did not expect him to be here so soon. Did he really leave or… how long were we out for?
"Hey baby" he stopped at the door and the smell of fresh blood hit my nostrils. He probably just fed.
"You came" I breathed out, blinking to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.
"Of Course I came" he rushed towards me and knelt down, cupping my face "Didn't I tell you, I'll always find you"

[ Now let's get down to it ]
Sage
"Can I wait at the bar?"
"No"
"I need a drink Ezra" I hissed at him.
"We'll order it after the meeting" he gave me a glare.
"Ezra Amherst" a familiar face greeted us.
Donovan Cassius. The King of Gervase.
"Donovan" Ezra reached out a hand to greet him
"Good to see you" he shook his hand with a professional demeanor.
He turned his head towards me, flashing me a smile.
"Sage" he reached out his hand to greet me as well "Didn't expect to see you here" he gave Ezra a surprised look.
"Its been a while Donovan" i gave him a smile.
"Let's get this damn thing over with" Ezra took our attention.
Donovan nodded and turned around to walk in.
Ezra followed behind.
I ran my hand through my hair in annoyance and walked in behind them.
I hated these kind of business meetings. They were long and drawn out and had too unnecessary conversations.
I didn't like small talk.
After a while I zoned out and turned my head to look out of the window. I leaned back in my chair and took a sip of my whiskey.
I could hear Ezra and Donovan discussing their Kingdoms in the distance, but my ears fixed on something else.
A gunshot.
Then another.
I whipped my head back to Ezra, but I didn't get a chance to say anything.
The glass from all around us just came crashing in as a sharp, shooting pain hit me.
I pressed my hands against my head, trying to ease the pain, but it didn't help.
I looked back, two vampires were lying on the ground.
The lights began flickering and I heard another gunshot.
I felt a sharp gush of air and the next thing I felt was my feet touching the grass in the lawn.
"Ezra what the fuck?" I tried pulling my hand away from him.
"We need to leave" he shouted and pulled me towards the car.
My mind went completely blank. I tried looking back.
He grabbed my hand and shoved me into the car and shut the door behind me.
"Go. I'm right behind you."
"Ezra.."
Before I could say anything more, the driver sped off.
The last thing I saw was Ezra turning back to go to his car.
He was going to be okay. At least that's what I told myself, and that's what I'm telling myself even now that I haven't seen him since that incident that happened over a week ago.
