Axel
Time was dragging as I thought it would. I brushed it off - just a little while more. Arabella said she would start the spell at midnight so we'd have about ten to fifteen minutes to get the hell out of here.
It had been a few hours and I already couldn't wait to get out. The witch didn't come back and we couldn't hear anything else from outside. According to Ezra there was a blockage spell on this room so it made sense but the uneasiness crept in anyway. There was just one thought in my mind - If they hurt her I'm going to kill every last one of them. I didn't care if they had the means to kill us, I'd do it even if it was the last thing I did.
I had no idea what time it was but the uneasiness in me was getting more and more unsettling by the second. Donovan and Ezra were bickering like an old married couple and I lost count of how many times I wished I could just snap their necks to keep them quiet.
There was so much going through my mind that for a second I didn't register the sudden gush of wind that blew in. I rested my head back when I noticed Ezra looking out with a concerned look. Donovan was looking at me with a confused look, because there was no wind gushing outside. Not yet.
Another gush of wind and it was as if the ground beneath us began quaking. I looked out of the window and true enough, the wind was picking up, getting more and more violent by the second until…I heard a gasp and the sound of chains falling to the floor rang through the air.
Donovan looked up at me with narrowed eyes "What is happening?"
"We don't have a lot of time" I untangled the chains further from around my arm and stood up.
"Where do you think you're going?" a sharp voice came from the doorway causing us to whip our heads in the direction. An elderly witch was standing there with a mortified expression.
She raised her hand and began chanting something but even before she could cast a spell I heard a crack from behind me and the next thing I saw was a huge piece of wood going straight through her stomach almost pinning her against the wall.
That was Donovan's doing.
He huffed and pushed past us and was the first to leave the room. Ezra still had the chains around his feet and was pulling them apart when we heard another snap. We both rushed out to see Donovan holding a young boy by the throat - he was dead of course and was being drained dry. The smell of blood rushed through my nostrils but I had a stronger urge in that moment and it wasn't because of the blood.
I pushed past him and rushed down the stairs and was immediately pushed back by someone in a flash. I looked around and there was no one there.
I tried taking another step but this time I was pushed down by a growling, snarling werewolf. How stupid are these freaks? One pull and that was it - his heart was on the floor beside me and his body went limp. I thought I was okay until I realised the son of a bitch had stabbed me with something.
I saw movement from the corner of my eye and immediately turned my head. It was the witch from earlier. She glanced to the top of the stairs and turned to run out. But the second she opened the door - there he was. Ethan, standing tall and proud, dripping in blood with a grin plastered over his face.
"That one's mine" Ezra growled from the top of the stairs and jumped down, but the witch was quick to fling Ethan to the side , almost at Ezra.
Nathaniel barged in from another door and my ears suddenly picked up on the howling and snapping that was going on outside. They made it. The spell worked. I was still pulling the piece of wood out from my chest when...
