"Why do I smell dog?" my senses come around and this is the first damn thing I smell. Perfect.

"Ahh, he's awake" I heard a voice from beside me and fluttered my eyes open. Alanah. Of course.

"Where am I?" I looked around the enclosed room; much like the one I was tied up in earlier, only this one had furniture and a fireplace, which was the only source of light in the room.

"Does it matter?" she rolled her eyes when the realisation hit me.

"You snapped my neck"

"Yes. How else would I get you down here" she sat down on a sofa opposite me while I was tied to an uncomfortable iron chair.

"This smell" I looked around "Wolves. They're helping you, huh"

"You talk too much" she smirked at me.

"Then you talk. Tell me why am I here?"

"You look like death" she stood up and walked out of the room making sure to sway her hips a little too much.

She was gone for a good five minutes or so. What the hell is she doing?

I heard her footsteps approaching again but that's not entirely what took my attention. I could smell blood. Fresh blood. God, I was so thirsty.

"I got you something" she held up a blood bag in front of me with a huge grin.

"How very kind of you. Now, what the hell do you want?" I glared at her, causing her grin to fade into a clear annoyance.

"Well, let's make a deal" she began hesitantly.

"I'll give you a sip of blood for every answer you give me" she held out a little cup with blood.

"You haven't met a lot of vampires, have you?"

She gave me a vacant look and I took that for a yes.

"Thought so" i smirked "This isn't going to work with me Alanah. Now tell me what the hell am I here for?"

"Alright" she put the blood down. Fuck. Honestly I was thirsty, I could use a drink. But I'd rather desiccate than use this as a bargaining chip for a deal with a witch.

"You said it yourself, the coven can't beat you" she crossed her arms over her chest.

"So you have no faith in your own people" I cocked up an eyebrow.

"Not exactly, they're powerful, but, as you so kindly put it, I'm not as strong as the others." She took a step towards me.

"You're younger" I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Kind of"

"Tell me what are your witch buddies planning"

She let out a little laugh "Easy there King. I'm not that easy"

Says the woman who had been eyeing me like I eye my blood bags.

"I do not understand what you want then" I simply stated.

"It means that if shit goes down I'm gonna need your word that I won't be harmed"

I laughed. Not a dry laugh. Not a sarcastic laugh. A genuine hysterical laugh.

"What's so funny?" she snarled.

"You really think you can chain me up and try to tempt me with blood or bat your lashes at me and I'll protect you?" I had water in the corner of my eyes from how hard I just laughed.
