Sage
Last night went by in a blur. Everything, except… "I love you"
He looked so surprised. But how could I blame him. I had never said that out loud before. But yesterday… it just felt right. Everything felt right.
Today, time was dragging. And neither of us were sure if we liked that or not. We were anticipating what may happen this evening - ready for a kill. But at the same time deep down we wanted things to go smoothly, or maybe that was just me.
I looked at the clock. Barely past three thirty. The Ball was to start at six, but that was still three hours away and the seconds were starting to feel like hours the closer it was getting.
I sat on the bed in Axel's shirt with a goblet of blood in my hand while Axel was across the room in his boxers, yelling at Ashton for being late.
They had gone to check up on the wolves outside the city. Him and Ethan had some news but Axel didn't want to hear it right now. At least now they were on their way back, only a few hours away, so I suppose Axel would hear him out when he gets back.
"Something happened with the wolves on the outskirts" he tossed his phone onto the bed and sat down, running his hand through his hair.
"I heard" I reached out and rubbed his shoulder. He let out a sigh and shifted closer to me.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about tonight?" she tilted his head slightly to glance at me.
"That bad feeling is kind of what we need tonight, Axel" I gave him a little smile. One that he did not return.
"Not sure about that, baby" he threw himself back against the mattress with his hands crossed behind his head, putting his insanely sculpted torso on display.
"Staring is rude, Sage" he was gazing up at the ceiling with a smirk playing on his lips.
"Shut up" I felt my cheeks heat up. I nudged his side but ended up lying down beside him, snuggling up as close as possible.
"We're all stressed about tonight" I ran my hand through his hair "We're going to be alright"
"We have to," he pulled my hand down and left a little kiss on the inside of my palm, all the while not taking vhos eyes off me. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close and my first instinct was just to kiss him. So I did. This was so peaceful and I wanted to savour it, because to me this felt like the calm before the storm. Were we ready for it?
We were snapped out of our little bubble by the sound of a buzz. I pulled away to look at Axel. He reached his hand to the side he grabbed his phone to check it.
"Your brother has impeccable timing" he almost rolled his eyes, but I'm afraid he couldn't camouflage the annoyance in his voice.
I laughed, I knew he wasn't wrong. "What does he want?"
"He wants to see me" he gave me a light kiss and slid off the bed.
"Now?"
"Yeah, well he's been sending me messages for the past one hour or so..." he shrugged and strolled into the bathroom.
Ezra wasn't kidding when he said he'd kill anything that bats a lash if he had to. He'd have the whole palace dripping in blood if that meant he got what he wanted…what we all wanted. An end to this chaos.
"You coming?" I hadn't noticed Axel standing in the centre of the room, buttoning his dark shirt with his wet hair slicked back from combing his fingers through it.
