10 A Visitor

Sage

I saw my feet moving. I saw Ethan walking infront of me but all I could think of was Axel. What just happened in that room? I came here to ask him about something but the minute I laid eyes on him I couldn't think of anything. I felt like a school girl almost flustered from his touch.

I let him get so close. I let him touch me and pull me how he pleased. I've never done that before. I never liked anyone having that kind of control in front of me. But he...I didn't question him even once. Infact I wanted him to push me further. I wanted him to pull me closer. It took too much of my strength to pull away from him in that moment but maybe I was hoping he wouldn't let me.

"Sage" I pulled back to reality by a cold voice and I looked in the direction Ethan was standing. He gestured his head towards the door. That was Ezra's office.

I didn't say a word. I brushed past Ethan and walked through the damn door without knocking.

"Ahaa" he looked up from his desk

"How'd you know I was here?" I did nothing to camouflage the annoyance in my voice. I turned to the door and Ethan had left. I walked over to the table and sat across from Ezra.

"You parked your car at the fucking entrance Sage" he shot back "what are you doing here?"

"So I'm not welcome here is that what you're saying?" I leaned back in my chair.

"You know that's not what I meant" his voice calmed down. "Ethan said he saw you a while back..."

"I came to speak to Axel" my words might have surprised him because I saw his eyes widen. "I wanted to say sorry for being an ass this morning" his eyebrows furrowed in confusion and he just sat there looking at me for a few seconds.

"Okay" he leaned back "so did you?"

"I was about to" I knew he hated when I spoke in a sarcastic tone so I did it anyway "when I was rudely interrupted by your informer".

He laughed.

"You mean your boy toy" I knew what he meant but that wasn't important right now.

"Well Ethan said there's someone here to see me" I took off my jacket and threw it on the table.

"Alexander Ranger is on his way" his voice was sharp. But that's not what caught my attention.

Alexander Ranger was the Alpha of one of the strongest werewolf packs. They had mostly Pure Bloods too. That's why they were so dangerous.

"Why is he coming here?" it wasn't likely for him to come to the palace. He liked staying away from the Vampires as much as he could. Not that he hated the species. He just found us unpredictable.

"He said he wanted to talk to both of us. I was going to give you a call but you were already here" he smiled.

"Something must be wrong" I knew it was "he wouldn't come all the way here if it wasn't important"

"Yeah I asked him if it could wait till the weekend but he said no" his voice was starting to show signs of concern.

"The weekend?" I looked back at him

"The Festum" he stated.

"Ahh yes. I forgot about that..." my voice trailed.

He gave me a look and stood up and walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a blood bag and walked over to the table, pouring it into two glasses, he slided one towards me.

"Alexander has some information" he sat back down twirling the glass around keeping his eyes on the red fluid moving inside it.

"About?" I reached for my glass.

"We'll find out when he gets here" he took a sip .

I hadn't seen Alexander in a while. We did have some trade going on but we wouldn't interact directly with eachother. He was one of the first Packs to call a truce with the Vampires. Not because he was scared...oh no. He was a Pure Blood too and he could give any one of us a tough fight.

"How do you know Alexander?" He leaned forward.

"I knew his ancestor Cohen. He helped out during the war" I took a sip from my glass.

"Ahhh. Yes Cohen. I remember him" his brows furrowed a bit ." The wolf territory? That's named after his ancestor..." his voice trailed as he put two and two together.

I nodded and he leaned back in his chair. I was about to take another sip when Ezra looked towards the door and smiled.

"Axel" he gestured him to come in.

I turned around to find his eyes already on me. He gave me a slight nod amd I returned the greeting with a small smile. The thought of what happened earlier started swirling in my mind. I shook my head and took a gulp of the blood and put it down on the table.

"You're done packing?" Ezra broke the silence.

"I didn't carry alot of things anyway" he sat down in the chair beside me as I made sure not to make eye contact.

"So when is Xander getting here?" I was getting impatient. I wanted to get this over with and get back home as soon as possible. More importantly I wanted to get away from Axel. I could feel his eyes on me but I kept mine straight ahead giving Ezra a questioning look.

"Anytime now" he sipped his drink again.

"Xander?" Axel's curious voice rang in my ears which caused me to turn to him. But he had his eyes fixed on my brother.

"Alexander Ranger. He's an alpha from.."

"The Mjesec Clan" Axel cut him off.

"You know them" I turned towards him with surprise.

"Yeah I crossed paths with a few during the War and a few times after that" his eyes stayed on me but kept glancing down at my lips. I turned my face away from him to look back ahead of me. Ezra was busy pouring more blood into his glass and didn't bother offering us anyway.

"Ezra" a familiar voice broke the silence drawing my attention away from the distraction beside me. We all looked in the direction. Kaia was standing at the door half open.

"You have a visitor" she opened the door fully and looked back nodding her head at someone . we heard footsteps getting closer as we all had our undivided attention in that direction.

A tall figure walked in behind her and I immediately recognised that face. Alexander Ranger. He always had the brightest smile.
