~on campus~
"Hey, Ki," he says.
"Yeah?"
"...I asked my friends to escort you to and from classes when I can't as I couldn't think of a way for me to be there all the time. I thought of asking the principal to have a resource officer follow but I don't know...Also, I'll come pick you up and drop you off for lunch too," Hyunwoo says as we walked further onto campus while holding hands.
"But, wouldn't it be out of their way," I asked carefully as I didn't want to bother them.
"Nah, I asked my friends who have classes near yours. It should be fine," he replies.
"Oh, really," I said rather than asked.
"I promise your parents that I would protect you. So, I called in some favors," he says.
"I'm sorry," I said as I felt bad that he has to do all of this for me.
Hyunwoo halts and turns toward me. He lets go of my hand and places his hands on my shoulders and looked into my eyes. "Kihyun, don't ever apologize. This is not your fault in any way at all. It's his fault...Plus, you are my boyfriend. And, when you are in danger, I ought to do anything in my power to protect you. Do you understand me," he asks in a firm tone. He's lying. It's your fault for attracting trouble. Don't fool yourself. I am?
"I- I- Yeah," I stammered while chewing on my lower lip as the urge to cut began to bubble under my skin. The look in his eyes softens as he realizes the change in my mood. He moves his hands from my shoulders and pulls me to him before wrapping his arms around my waist. Then, he brings his head closer to mine and presses his forehead against my forehead.
We stayed like that until he felt like those dark thoughts were gone before he stepped away from each other by a half of a step or so. Hyunwoo takes my left hand into his right hand before saying, "It's going to be okay. I'll make sure of it." Are you sure that you can believe that?
