Kihyun
~three hours or so later~
~at an arcade~
"Hey, guys. I'm gonna go to the bathroom real quick, okay," I said to Jooheon and the others who are competing against each other. Jooheon makes a shooing gesture while the others gave a half hearted nod as they were too focused on killing zombies or whatever those monsters are.
I shook my head at them in a very mild disappointed manner. It sometimes sucked to be the mom friend in the friend group. I turned around and made my way to the back of the arcade where the restrooms are located.
Numerous teenagers and some parents were here. The whole place is filled with people chattering and shouting and with the sounds from the machines. As I near the bathrooms, I saw a guy killing it on the DDR machine. I suddenly recall when Hyunwoo and I went here when we were younger with our parents and he would try to sabotage me. I chuckled at this memory fondly.
When I looked away, I entered the hallway where the bathrooms were. For some reason, they were deep inside the hallway. It really seemed impractical but it's whatever. Just as I placed my hand on the handle, everything went black.
Jooheon
~twenty seven minutes later~
"Where the hell is Kihyun," I asked as I looked around the room.
"He's probably playing a different game," Hoseok says.
"Didn't he say he was going to the bathroom? Maybe, there's a long line," Hyungwon adds.
"Shouldn't he have been back by now," Minhyuk says without removing his gaze from the screen in front of him.
"I'll go check on him," I said to which they all nodded. I hastily made my way to the bathrooms and threw open the door which caught the attention of the other people there. I smiled awkwardly and went over to the stalls.
"Kihyun hyung, are you in here," I asked but no response. I repeated myself and was met with the same silence. "That's weird...maybe, he went to buy some food or something," I muttered to myself as I made my way out of the bathroom. Just as I was about to go down the hallway back to the main part of the arcade, something sparkling caught my eye.
I looked down and saw a lapis lazuli colored button on the floor. I picked it up and rolled it around in my palm as I thought about why it captured my attention. Seconds later, I recognized it as one of the buttons on Kihyun's shirt.
