Part 6
The dust was settling and blood soaked the fields. In Corrin’s arms lay the ninja who not only swore undying loyalty to her… but also love before closing shut his eyes, what shall be forever.
Tears were flooding in Corrin’s ruby eyes, threatening to break like a dam full of too much water.
“N-No…! This isn’t what was supposed to happen…!” Corrin begins to panic, her heart pounding while the tears could barely hold for much longer.
“K-Kaze...p-please…. OPEN YOUR EYES!!” Corrin cried. But to her grief, she received no answer. No, Yes M’lady. Or, I swear I will not die on you. And not even, As my liege commands.
Kaze’s face was as pale and white as snow. His eyes shut, his lips closed. He looked rather peaceful for one that was just slaughtered brutally in battle while protecting the one person who gave him a purpose.
Knowing that the one she loves and holds dear will never again awake, smile at her, talk to her, eat with her, or even hold her… will never happen again… Corrin released the tears she’s been concealing for so long and hard.
Corrin released the tears and holds the ninja tightly against her while wailing in pain and grief. Kaze, besides her family, was one of the most important people in her life.
But in a blink of an eye… he was gone, just like that. It’s as if everything that ever made her happy… was never even there.
After some time passed, Corrin’s wails had settled down into nothing more than quiet but painful sobs as her body continued to rattle, never letting her love go.
Footsteps made noise approaching slowly and carefully. They stopped and a pair of golden eyes stared at the princess and the fallen ninja.
“Corrin…” Spoke the soft and gentle voice, that was also filled with much sadness of its own. Corrin lifts her soaked face from the crook of Kaze’s neck she was crying into a moment ago to see her sister, Azura.
“A-Azura…” Choked Corrin. “P-Please… make it stop. Take away the pain.” Corrin cried. Azura gazed at the girl for a moment before replying…
“Corrin… I am so sorry for everything that has happened today. Truly, I am. But… I cannot take away the pain that you are experiencing. And don’t ask me to kill you, because I won’t. But… what I can do… is help bring him back to you.”
“H-Huh?”
“Kaze, as dead as he seems… is still alive. He’s not completely dead. There is still time to save him. Many are dead and fallen here today. While I cannot save everyone… I can save few including Kaze from entering death’s door.” Azura explained, even though much probably didn’t make much sense.
But before Corrin could have a chance to voice anymore mutters or ask another question, Azura begins to approach and kneel down across from Corrin while starting to sing.
“Oooooh you are the Ocean’s grey waves, destined to seek, life beyond the shores, just out of reach, yet the waters ever change, flowing like time; the path is yours to climb…”
As Azura sung this, she caressed a hand beside’s Kaze’s soft cheek. But as she sung a little more, her medallion began to float and glow.
Corrin thought everything would go back to the way things once was; how they are supposed to be… after Azura’s song.
But Azura is only human. She can only do so much. She is no god, she cannot erase all pain from this world or from those who suffer because of it.
But she can do a little to bring it to a minimum. To help ease it, that is. But it comes to an expense. It comes with a price…
As Azura continued singing, Corrin at least three times attempted to interrupt Azura, warning her that she looked to be vanishing and shattering like glass.
Azura finishes her song and glances over to Corrin, tears sliding down her cheeks. But her smile… they held happiness in them.
“I know, Corrin… everything comes with a price. Please, don’t be sad. I’m glad… to have met you, to help ease your pain even if only by a little. Thank you… for being my sister. And showing me what family is.”
Was Azura’s last words before disappearing into nothing. It was as if she wasn’t even knelt down next to her or Kaze from the start.
Was what Corrin saw… real? Or was she imagining things and has she finally lost her mind, going mad…?
But deep down, Corrin knew what she saw was not a false illusion. It was real. Azura, was real. What happened, was real.
Azura was truly gone…
But before anymore grief could threaten to destroy the princess’ heart, a gasp made way to her ears.
The one she believed to be dead… was taking in a breath of air. It was Kaze. And… his violet colored eyes were opening once again.
Corrin was so astounded, she truly could not find words to express how she was feeling as Kaze sat up and turned to the woman before him.
“Corrin…” Kaze stared at her as if looking for an answer he was seeking… but eventually the answer came to him, and he as quickly as a ninja could hope to, grabbed Corrin tightly but gently into his arms as if never wanting to let go again.
“I-I’m so sorry… I almost failed you. I almost did the one thing you commanded me not to do; and that was to die. Please, find it in yourself to forgive me.” Kaze whispered, his voice trembling.
“I forgive you!” Smiled Corrin as tears of happiness replaced her tears of sadness and grief. “I love you…” Says the ninja before placing a kiss upon the lips of the woman he loves.
After this day, Nohr and Hoshido never fought again for two generations straight. No more conflict or war would happen between the two.
The two kingdoms did their best to ignore each other like the plague for years to come. But… eventually the two countries came to an agreement and a peace treaty was made.
Corrin married Kaze, and even if the two didn’t become the king and queen of Nohr… they lived very happily ever after.
