Adrianna's pov
I was extremely nervous, seeing as how Shawn and my dad are meeting for the first time. He had just just gotten back from touring and I hadn't seen him in awhile myself. I had every right to be nervous. I'm not really worried about Shawn getting along badly, I'm worried about my dad being stubborn. There's no way he could not like Shawn other than he doesn't want me to grow up. I suppose me always being daddy's little girl has its downsides.
He was set to arrive at 6 for dinner tonight, but the hours dragged on endlessly. Finally I looked at the clock and it read 6:00 exactly. Just as I looked away again there was a knock at the door. Relieved to see Shawn, I jumped into his warm embrace. We walked in to the dining room and sat at the already prepared table. Both my parents sat down across from us and the endless questioning began. "So Shawn what do you do?" "Ever thought of your future?" And my dad kept firing questions, but he refused to cease until he was satisfied. Finally as we finished dinner my dad stopped interrogating every aspect of Shawn's life.
As I was walking him to the door my dad halted us, telling us to sit on the couch. "Well you two I've made up my opinion on Shawn." We both looked at each other then back at my dad, I sent him daggers telling him to go on. "I'm sorry I just don't like him very much for you." I felt the world stop, my breathing hitched and I felt like throwing up. I must've looked visibly sick as well because my dad looked at me and said,"Sweetheart are you alright." Up to this point in my life my dad and I got along, and I was always the good child in his eyes. So what I did next even surprised the hell out of me. "Dad you have no right, you've just met him. Every answer he gave was good and respectful. What the hell?" They both gaped at me, but my father turned back to Shawn.
"Look I don't want my daughter heartbroken because some stupid boy." "Sir, I assure you she won't end up heartbroken." They argued back and forth for a little while until my dad started screaming in our faces. "You will not see this boy anymore and that's final." Shawn stood up, eye-level with my dad. "Look I love your daughter, I really do. If I had any intention of breaking her heart I clearly wouldn't have asked her out at all. We make each other happy, you clearly don't want her to be happy. I respect her and you. She's the best thing that happened to me and I don't intend on losing her to your false opinion." Me and my dad stood there, awestruck that Shawn not only just yelled but at my father. "C'mon Adri." With that he grabbed my hand and we walked out the front door.
"Shawn where are we going?" "Look I'm not leaving you, please don't leave me." He looked like he was about to cry but I knew he was just angry. "Shawn I'm never going to leave you, especially over my stupid dad. I promise." He looked happier but still a little distraught from the screaming match with my dad. "Wait, you uh..uh Nevermind." He looked at me with a childish grin. "yes I said 'I love you' and I meant it." "Well in that case I love you too." We both smiled at each other until Shawn put the car in drive.
