Grounded he lay there as the shock spread through his body. The sheer emotion of 'I told you so' kept crossing his mind non-stop. To save or not to save. What should he do? Surely this wasn't his fault. He and Enzo could have just been surviving out there on their own if they didn't go after their prized weapons.

Mason's back was hurting him a bit. He opened the door on the left where the sniper couldn't shoot as long as he kept his head down. He knew that the sniper had a bad aim. Because he competely missed Gideon's head and got his shoulder.

He opened the door swiftly as he was still in a bit of pain. He rolled through on the bloody asphalt. The blood was of the dead cow that the car drove over. He kept his body low opened the door where Gideon was still stuck.

Out of those efforts, the sniper's bullet hit the car like a warning shot. The sound of it frightened Mason a bit but he did okay afterwards. Gideon got passed out. Mason unbuckled the seat belt and Gideon fell flat on the upside down car roof.

Mason dragged him to his direction and now he had to improvise. He looked at Gideon's injured shoulder and saw that it was bleeding heavily. He grabbed his knife from his burgundy colored holder and had to remove the bullet.

He softly stabbed the knife into Gideon's shoulder and felt the bullet inside. He rotated the knife a bit to find the right spot to remove it. But after all that rotating, the bleeding began getting heavier. As the knife reached its perfect position right beneath the bullet, he pushed it out and the bullet came out like a jumping dolphin out of the wavy oceans.

He spit on the wound as this was the best he could do to moisturize the would. He then removed his jacket and applied pressure to the wound as he tied it against Gideon's shoulder.

To move now, would be risky. But even staying here isn't safe as he had no idea if reinforcements were heading his way. Since the sniper was a bad aim, Mason felt a little bit more lucky. He looked around and saw that the forest was nearby. He would only need to run fast enough while carrying Gideon.

"Fuck..if this weren't for Enzo I'd just leave you here, you know that." Said Mason as he was getting ready to run.
The sniper shot again, this time on the asphalt. It looked more like a warning rather than a missed shot.

He ran as fast as he could while carrying Gideon. His heartbeat stopped if just for a moment as he saw the bullet race past his face. A moment of luck for him.

He reached the forest and dropped Gideon on the ground as he went on his knees and started breathing heavily. He held his chest as he looked like he died back there. He looked at Gideon and saw that he was still passed out. Probably from the bleeding or the shock. Mason wasn't an expert at these sort of moments but he did his best nonetheless.

But deep inside, he felt like leaving him. If it wasn't for Enzo still in Brentwood, he'd have definitely left. Mason had major trust issues. The only person still worth dying for was Enzo. All these emotions and thoughts started raging through his mind in spite of already saving him. But still, his intentions towards Gideon weren't pure. It was more of a forced unfriendly favor.

In the distance, he heard the engine rumbling of incoming trucks. The sheer roaring sound the trucks produced sent shivers down his spine.
It was the gang known as the Devil's Advocates. Mason had spared their leader Troy once before. It all started with them.

He lifted Gideon up and ran through the dark shadowed forest. He ran as hard as he could as his breath started to weep. The air that he grasped quickly came out again as his strength started to lower. The more distance, the more pain he felt. But he didn't have a choice.
