As death lay behind them, they still held on to their lives and kept on going. The zombies were gaining distance but Adalia and Gideon had enough ammo to neutralize them. Mason and Enzo kept on running in their heavy packs as they were covered.

"Better have those keys ready kid!!" Yelled Gideon.

The keys of the car were hidden behind the car rims themselves. Enzo heard the loud gunshots behind him and it made him remember the time where Mason first shot a pistol. He couldn't shoot more than 3 times as the sound was a bit too much for him. But as it got more important and more frequent in their lives, they got used to it.

Adalia aimed and shot the zombies successfully in their head, where they'd go down in a heartbeat. Gideon did too but he was a slightly worse shot than Adalia. But he wasn't bad at all. The horde kept getting smaller as they kept on getting killed. Soon after, the zombies grew smart enough to stand down as their numbers got smaller. They stopped chasing and ran the other way.

"Holy fuck!! What the hell was that?" Asked Adalia.

"They've evolved. Read about it in Lawton's files. There's more to them than just their cannibalistic nature." Said Gideon gasping for breath as they kept on following the two boys.

They were all nearing the gas station where the car was hidden. They stopped a moment to catch their breath as Mason and Enzo laid down their supplies. Mason leaned against the wall and was super tired from all the running. But he was soon punched in the stomach by Gideon and fell down. Enzo tried to help but was held back by Adalia.

"You know kid, I really should kill you right now. You left us there to rot. Along with the other Marines. Even though I saved your life more than once." Said Gideon as he looked at Mason, expecting a serious answer.

Mason started chuckling at how pathetic Gideon sounded. It seems that Mason was right about a few things. One being that he didn't understood the ways of The Remaining Few or the world outside. He was protected by walls and that made him weak in Mason's eyes.

"You think you understand...us? You think you know...us? What makes you think we had any right to help you? The world with laws and morals is gone. Get that in your FUCKING head!!" Said Mason and he threw a punch at Gideon.

Gideon stepped back a few as the punch landed. He was impressed by Mason's punching power. He clapped slowly and then quickly reacted. He grabbed Mason by the neck and held a knife against it, threatening to kill him.

"You think you're big huh? Think you're all knowing? Strong and firm?!?!? Think again prick!! The world with rules and morals are gone...so that means no more prison for killing underaged men!!" Said Gideon as he lightly moved the knife, giving Mason a light cut.

Enzo wanted to react but his friend had a knife against his neck. The smartest thing to do right now was to wait and do what they say.

Mason wasn't afraid but he felt something that just wasn't fear. It was something else entirely and he couldn't even describe it with a knife against his neck. Gideon let go of Mason and pushed him against the wall. Mason made his clothes sit well again and asked Gideon a simple question.

"How the fuck did you find us? We helped you enough already and we delivered. If this was a revenge mission, you'd have killed us already." Said Mason.
