*Grunts*
*Painful Moans*
It continued for hours. The mind was somewhere else, but the body was experiencing an enormous amount pain. Mason opened his eyes and saw nothing but darkness. The room wasn't lighted up and the only thing Mason could hear was his own voice in pain.
"I...I...can't see. I..I don't...I can't...see." said Mason repeatedly to himself as he tried his best. But the pain in his left shoulder was extremely painful. The more he tried to move his hand, the more it started to hurt. Not even an inch could be moved.
He held his left shoulder with his right hand hoping the pain would go away. But as seconds passed, it got worse and worse. He was sweating and his body felt warm. He had no idea what time it was. One instant, the pain disappears. The other, it returns extremely painful.
"I remember the first time I saw you. Slightly taller than me. Full of positive and comedic energy. You made every room with negative energy a bit more positive. If you even tried. But to me, it felt like you did. Always wanting to be a presence in something. Whether the big or small occasion. It made sense. I didn't know your name till the second day of camp. I remember not sleeping till I knew it. I tried to match every cliche name onto you but it didn't work. You weren't a cliche person so a cliche name wouldn't fit I thought. I remember those days like they were yesterday. I'll never forget your first words to me. 'Hold on...I'll take care if you' you said as I was drowning alongside Beth. I can't imagine my life if you weren't there. The coming years I tried to forget it. Because I felt like I owed you something. Even thought I did. But I was too selfish to admit anything when it came to you. Now here you are, as I...a fragment of your mind...lecture you about our past. Kind of ironic really. But I guess, that's just how life is. Full of uncanny jokes that make you want to kill yourself." Said Lexi, as she appeared again to Mason. She sat on a chair right next to the bed. Mason couldn't see her so he held out his hand to reach out for her.
She grabbed his hand gently and gave it a light massage. Mason breathed heavily in pain. But it felt like she rubbed it away as the pain slowly faded away again. He felt confused as how his mind made up this image of Lexi. He felt the internal pain of conflict. The conflict within that was there for over a year.
He shed a light tear from his right eye. He felt the warm tear falling down his face as it reached his ears.
"I...I.. I lo-" Mason said before he felt Lexi's grip disappear and the pain resumed. He had no choice but to wait it out. No way he could sleep with this. It was too distracting for him.
Meanwhile, Adalia sat on her bed. She couldn't sleep anymore and just wiped her face and eyes. She sighed in boredom and examined her necklace.
"Might as well give me some luck now, lucky bird." Said Adalia to her necklace that had a silver mockingbird attached to it. She felt a connection with these birds and quite literally respected them as ancient creatures.
She thought about Brentwood. The day she, Gideon and Howard escaped. Just barely.
"I got a first aid kit there in the brown box. Take it. We don't have much time." Said Howard as he looked at a beat up Gideon on the ground. Adalia immediately went over to the brown box Howard pointed at and looked for the first aid kit.
