-1 And A Half Year Ago-

It were the very first months of the outbreak. Mason and his group had just found the hidden mansion that once belonged to a rich politician. It was empty and they searched the whole mansion to see if they were the only ones inside.

After successfully taking a full sweep in the mansion, they settled down and hoped they'd be okay for now. The group members wanted to speak with Mason in the living room. He walked over and saw how almost everyone looked at him angrily and the ones who still had faith in him, were a bit disappointed in him.

Robert, the father of Lexi led the group for now but he had extreme difficulties with it. He wanted to speak with Mason and wanted everyone to listen too. He invited everyone over to the living room to hear what he has to say.

"I suppose you know why we called you over. I wanted everyone to hear what I have to say to you and also what I have in mind. Know that we value everyone in this room and are somewhat a family." Said Robert as he looked at Mason.

"I know...never thought otherwise." Said Mason as he looked down, not wanting to look anyone in the eyes and face his faults.

"Can't shoot a gun. Can't cook. Can't clean properly and you can't even stick to one GODDAMN PLAN!! I mean, what the fuck is wrong with you?!?!? Others try to teach you something but you can't seem to remember anything at all. Can't you see that we all want what's best for you? Can't you accept that?" Asked Robert.

Mason stood there in the center of the room while the group was around him. A tear fell from his eye but his face remained calm and normal. The pain he felt couldn't be described. It felt like his heart was being ripped out of place and his head spinning cycles across. The raw thoughts that raced through his mind were the memories of his loved ones that he lost and let down big time.

"I suppose you're right. I mean...I'm the easiest target. Look at me, I'm worthless, hopeless and terrified and once again...worthless." Said Mason as he finally lifted his head up to reveal his sorrowful red eyes that bursted with tears.

"Mason, that's not true." Said Enzo as he stood up wanting to support his friend.

"Not now Enzo. Not now." Said Mason as he didn't want to be interrupted.

He looked at Robert and didn't blink once. Not even with the pain in his soul that kept on bleeding from the inside out. His body felt extremely cold and he didn't move an inch while he started to speak.

"Look around you Robert. Look around you. You have a family. Enzo has his family. Daniel has his family. Even Roman has his family. All I see is...people who have their own blood to look up to and next to. They have all the warmth in the world. All the support and love they need in this depressing time. What do I have? Huh? Tell me. What do I even have left? I wasn't even supposed to be here. I was supposed to go across country with my family because of my upcoming birthday. I didn't go and they went on without me. I stayed home alone talking with friends that I'm not even sure are still alive." Said Mason as he looked down again. He felt an extreme pain in his stomach and grunted loudly as he couldn't hold back his pain anymore. He was tired of holding back and acting like everything was alright.

"When the dust cleared and everything went to hell, they called. They...called. It was a miracle that the phone signals still worked. They told me that they loved me for who I  was. Can you imagine? Hearing that from people you've known for so long. To hear the lovely words that are meant for...memorials or funerals. I spoke to every single one of them. My mother. My grandmother. My stepfather. But the innocence of my little sister...and little brother. I couldn't handle listening to their voices as they didn't know what was going on. They were confused. They told me to get ready for my balloons. My mom probably came up with an excuse. They wanted me to see the bright colors. The size of the balloons. I...I heard their screams as they got attacked. My little brother he...yelled out my name. My little sister she...she...she could barely scream any longer as the pain got worse. I..had...to..listen..to every single second that passed..as they were being teared to shreds. And while you all were busy laughing and cooking during this...I guess you probably know what pain is huh? You let me sleep in a brick house where the rooms weren't even finished. I laid in the bed while my family was being killed. I had to listen to their pain every second through. I lost everything. You still have yours. and I lost mine. Can I even say that I've...got nothing more to lose? If you so badly want me to make good use of that gun, I promise I'll make good use of it. By shooting myself." Said Mason as he walked away and left the others lost for words.
