The sound of the trucks raging through the gritty road. The constant up and down movement began to get annoying. It was as if the driver couldn't drive properly.

The handcuffs were clanging against each other as it was also tight. The Marines in the truck loaded their weapons and customized it while there was nothing to do.

A few bullets fell as one rolled over to Enzo's face on the ground. It woke him up as he saw a bullet right in front of his nose. The smell of it wasn't pleasant at all. It had this old dusty fertilizer smell to it.

He breathed softly through as he felt the cold bullet on his nose. The Marine came over and took it, didn't mind Enzo in any way.

Enzo felt a heavy tap on his shoulder and looked beside him to see his father. Clay sat on the ground as the others did too. Enzo tried to get up but was in a very uncomfortable position.

After a few tries, it worked. He sat next to his father and looked at him from top to bottom.

"I thought...I...it..I thought it was all a..dream." said Enzo as he stuttered through his words. His father smiled at him and didn't quite know what to say.

"Where...*Sighs* Where were you?" Asked Enzo with a bit of difficulty to his tone of voice. His father looked down and Enzo knew that he was about to lie again. He immediately told him to tell him the truth. He wanted nothing else but the purest truth.

Clay looked at Enzo in his eyes but couldn't for long. He carried too much guilt with him and disappointed his son too much his past life. He clicked his tongue and was about to talk when Enzo said "If you're gonna spit some bullshit...stop. Please, just stop. I've had enough of it already."

"I looked for you. All of you. I really did. I just...couldn't. Your little brothers they...they didn't make it. They were at school when-" said Clay before Enzo interrupted him aggressively and said "You're lying!! The outbreak was on a Saturday. They didn't went to school, what happened to them?!?!?"

Clay's eyes were fearful and his body shaking through the heavy breathing. He couldn't sit still and kept looking in front of him. "Look..I.. I tra-" said Clay before being told by the Marines that they were disturbing the peace.

Clay and Enzo both leaned back as they started to whisper. The truck wasn't driving any comfier and the question remained to be answered.

"What happened to them? Hm? Are you still that narcissistic freak you always were huh?!?!? " asked Enzo aggressively before being shouted at by the highest ranking Marine in that space. He stopped talking and leaned back, not wanting to make things worse.

He remembered how his father treated him harshly. Some days felt like hell on earth with the punishment and shame he endured. The same could be said for his siblings except his sister.

Clay wasn't the most honorable man or father, let alone husband. He always wanted something more than he could ever handle. It brought him and his family trouble. This was the reason Enzo's parents split. The constant need to impress while living most days as nothing but the same people his father tried to impress.

Enzo never truly hated his father. He got the old method treatment of a father turning his son into a man. Even though the treatment seemed out of place and out of time.
