"I saw some horses in the open fields this evening. Haven't seen those in awhile." Said Adalia as she ate her dinner in a small plate.

"Horses?" Mason asked surprised.

"Yes, horses. Quite healthy ones. Haven't seen those kind of horses since home." Adalia said as she took a sip of her water in a valentine's day mug.

The food wasn't fantastic. But whenever the human body craves for food, anything would do. The side effects of bad food would occur much later on when someone has had their fill.

"Ever rode a horse Mason?" Asked Howard, who was already eating his second plate.

Mason looked up wanting to answer with details but just gave a simple "Nope". Howard looked a bit surprised that Mason has never ridden a horse before. He kept on eating as he thought of another question.

"Well horse riding really is something else. I'd rather take a horse than a car. No matter how late I would be, if I always had the chance, I'd take it." Adalia said as she was almost done with her first plate.

"That's what I keep hearing." Said Mason as he looked down at his food, barely eating any of it.

The others kept on talking and Mason looked in the direction of the hallway. From his point of view, it was dark with only a fraction of light shining upon the corner of it. The conversations swept through his mind as a strange figure appeared standing there. Mason froze and looked at the dark figure. Fear grew all over his body and the sound of the voices around him slowly faded.

The figure was shadowy, tall and wore a dress that was similar to a wedding dress. Mason couldn't quite make up who or what it was but the figure's hair grew from bald to very long. It wasn't quite a pleasant view as he got dizzy.

The door behind him opened in quick succession and he grabbed the knife on the table and wanted to stab whoever it was behind the door. He got up very quickly and held the knife close to...Enzo's throat. Enzo breathed very slowly as he held his hands up and tried to calm Mason. Adalia, Luka and Howard stood up from the dinner table wanting to intervene but Enzo held his hand up, telling them that he had this under control.

"Now Mason..come on now, it's me. Dark past, bright future right? Dark past, bright future. Dark past, bright future." Said Enzo repeatedly as Mason slowly lowered the knife recognizing the phrase "Dark past, bright future." by Enzo. He dropped the knife in disbelief that he got so close to killing Enzo.

"You okay? What's wrong?" Asked Enzo calmly holding Mason's shoulders. Mason looked down and breathed heavily. Enzo looked at Mason in his eyes and saw the same confused fear he saw a year ago. When Mason was nothing but a liability to the group. The same bitterness and sorrow he felt after losing almost everyone.

Mason ran away and Enzo was going to follow him. But Gideon stopped him and told him "Leave him. If you know him well, you should let him go through this alone. You won't always be there to help."

Enzo watched as Mason ran away from the house. Gideon tried to comfort him by saying that everything would be alright. Enzo just had to trust Gideon's advice.

"So..how did it go?" Asked Adalia as she laid back on her chair.

Gideon gave Enzo a tap on the back and said "Good. Better than expected to be bloody honest. Looks like we got a future sharpshooter on our hands. Minus the annoyance of loud gunshots."
