The time of dawn was near. The birds chirping their routine songs continuously. The roads weren't empty as a zombie wandered aimlessly. Luka was the first one to get up and spot the zombie from the distance. He took his sniper rifle and placed a suppressor.

He aimed at the zombie and dragged the cursor a bit to the right because of the distance the bullet had to travel. He took a deep breath and breathed everything out again. He pulled the trigger and caught the zombie right in the head. But he grunted as the shot went in.

He spotted the rest of the area as this was his morning routine before he would make some breakfast.

In the distance, he saw some horses. He thought that Adalia was right as there were a whole lot of horses wandering around. Luka thought of his past. His childhood at a farm in Croatia. He never had any luck with horses. All of them rejected Luka.

His father had a huge farm. Filled with horses, chickens, cows and pigs. Luka never loved his childhood as all the animals didn't like him for an odd reason.

But just this once, he thought of taking a chance and try to tame one of the horses. He climbed down from his tower and walked over to the distant trees. He lowered his rifle to make sure not to scare off the horses.

His heart was beating rapidly as he walked over with average pace. He took a deep breath and was nearly there. The horses saw him and a few of them started neighing as they ran away. But one among them stood still. It shaked its head and started stomping on the floor with its strong hoofs.

"Come on now horsey. I'm not gonna hurt you. I just want to give you a tap on the head." Luka said calmly as he slowly approached the horse. "Shh shhhhh shh shh shh. Stay still now...girl..boy. I don't quite know yet. Stay frosty horsey." Luka said as he nearly made it to the horse. The horse lowered its head as it knew what Luka was trying to do.

Luka reached out for its head and gave it some light taps on the head and side. He was quite excited to touch the horse this way. The horse accepted him and kept on standing still. But its trust was soon to be neutralized as Luka took his knife and stabbed the horse in the head. Before the horse could neigh any louder, it was dead and fell to the ground.

Blood spattered all over Luka and he wiped most of it off of his face. He looked at the dead horse as it was quite big and looked adult.

He looked over into the direction of the house and saw that no one was awake yet. "Don't take this personal horsey. We're all out of food and I'm not about to let the others go somewhere dangerous with an empty stomach. Let's drag you out of here and cut you into pieces somewhere else. Far from here so the smell doesn't stick around." Said Luka as he dragged the horse into the forest to begin cutting in an old shed.

4 Hours Later

Gideon opened his eyes and saw the sun shining in from the upper windows in his room. He looked next to him and saw the Blue Jay necklace that Tom gave to him in his last moments. He took ahold of it and still didn't know what it kind of meant. Tom had to give him this for a reason.

He got up and his eyes were still sleepy. He wiped them and went outside of his room where the sun shined more brightly. He couldn't look at it very long and infact, couldn't see anything at the moment. His eyes were still blurry.

He walked down the stairs from his room and went over to Luka's house. Where food had to be ready as he said yesterday. He opened the door and smelled the aroma of the suspected delicious meal.
