James Matthew Barrie
JAMES was at his favorite spot after school—reading a book about rich-ass duke's children by Anthony Trollope-on a branch of a sycamore tree.
He never has time to read back home, with his mother cooking and, keeping him busy too. School works weren't fun as well, with his mother calling him out the window to axe some wood or fix something in the house.
The hassle of being the only child, with a baby girl near on her way out to meet the dusty, stinking road of horse feces in London.
It would be much better inside the womb, James thought.
"What are you doing, boy?" he almost threw his book to the source of the voice.
"Goosely mother of ducks, what the heck was that for?" nagpipigil na pagrereklamo nito.
"Hey, are you alright? Gosh, what were you thinking, sitting up there?" nanlaki ang mata ni James sa paglapit ni Wendy sa kanya.
"I am absolutely fine." kaagad siyang napatayo.
"And what d-do you want, l-lady?" nauutal na tanong nito.
"I just want to thank you, for earlier." she said smiling at him—her face lighting up in the process.
"Oh, that was nothing—" hindi siya pinatapos magsalita ni Wendy at kaagad na inilagay sa palad nito ang isang mansanas.
"This is all I got, thank you!" nagmamadaling salita ni Wendy, sabay takbo na palayo.
James was left there dumbfounded and mesmerize. His heart was pounding like crazy. Heat was surging to the temple of his cheeks and ears.
He snapped himself back to reality while shaking his head. He grabbed his book from the dirt and head home, still thinking about the weird feeling he gets when he's near Wendy.
