Mary Darling

Mrs. Darling went out of bed to wrap her robe around her night dress. Her shoulders were hunched down and sleep was under her eyes as she fixed the bed.

It has been three days since Wendy started getting sick all of a sudden. She was eating well, but her morning sickness was never stopping.

After fixing the bed, Mrs. Darling went to check in Wendy.

"Wendy, honey, are you alright?" Mrs. Darling whispered while fully opening the door.

Mrs. Darling saw how Wendy was struggling in the nightmare; her hands were on her breast and her mouth was agape, as if she was moaning without sound.

"Wendy, you can wake up now."

"Mom," she said panting for air as if she was in a one kilometer marathon across the London bridge.

"It's alright, sweety.

"Just let it out, darling," she calmly said to her daughter.

It pains Mrs. Darling, seeing Wendy like this. Michael and John have not seen her for three days, since Mrs. Darling is afraid of whatever the virus Wendy has, it could transfer to her brothers.

Good thing the boys are still the same. It was as if separating them from Wendy was a good idea.

"Wait," Mrs. Darling sigh. "Michael wanted pancakes, while John oh gosh, I forgot to ask last night what John wants."

Mrs. Darling was in a huge frenzy—mixing pancakes batters and slicing fruits.

It has been a week or so since Mrs. Darling's anxiety started to rise. Wendy was just so sick, and having no one in the house for the whole duration of the day was torture.

"That's done," she said as she turned around to face the dining table.

"Children? Food is ready."

"Rise and shine, love," she said in a very mellow voice. "And where's Michael?"
