set in season one, so pam doesn't know jim is in love with her

"and how did it happen?" kelly asked pam. they were both in the kitchen, discussing about pam's relationship with roy.

"i told him i didn't love him anymore, and that i didn't want to marry him. he was angry but it was okay, overall" pam said, a sad expression on her face.

she had broken up with roy a couple of days ago, and she told kelly, because she needed to talk to someone and she didn't know who. she wanted to talk to jim, but... no.

"but why did you break up with him? do you love someone else" kelly asked with an excited face.

"i- no... i don't- i don't love someone else... i just didn't want to be with him anymore" pam said, blushing heavily.

"oh my gosh it's so obvious you're in love with someone else!!" kelly yelled.

"shut up! don't yell, kelly... but yes, maybe i like someone else"pam said, blushing even more.

kelly screamed like a child before hugging pam by the side.

"who is it! who is it! who is it!" kelly shouted.

"okay stop it! i'm not telling you" pam said.

"why won't you tell me?!" kelly asked.

"because i know you'll tell him" pam said, before realizing what she had done.

"so i know him!" kelly yelled.

"NO! i- i'm going back to work" pam said before running to reception.

pam sighed as she sat down at her desk, and kelly went back to the annex, but none of them knew someone else had heard their conversation.

jim.

jim was in the bathroom when he heard the two girls talking. he stayed close to the door, trying to hear what they were saying. he was pretty happy about what he heard. PAM WAS FINALLY SINGLE!! his heart started pounding in his chest.

"should i ask her out?"he thought.

he would to talk with kelly, since he knew she would tell him every detail of her conversation with pam, but he decided he would do it later.

pam saw jim walk out of the kitchen and wondered for how long he had been in there. did he hear her conversation? she hoped not...

jim smiled at pam as he sat at his desk, and pam smiled back. kelly was at the copier, and of course, she noticed the way jim and pam looked at each other. she looked at pam with wide eyes and a bright smile. when pam noticed she blushed and looked down.

kelly walked to her desk and knocked on the desk so pam would look at her, since she was voluntarily ignoring kelly. when pam finally looked up, kelly smirked at her.

"why didn't you tell me it's jim you like!" kelly whispered.

"what? erm... n-no it's not"pam said, but she felt herself blushing.

"it is! he totally likes you too, you know?" kelly said.

"you think?" pam asked hopefully.

"it's soooo obvious! i can ask him if you want" kelly said.

"don't!" pam said a little bit too loudly, which made jim turn around.

"i won't tell him you like him! i'll just find out if he likes you" kelly whispered.

"...okay fine" pam said and kelly giggled out of excitement. pam couldn't help but smile.

"hey kelly! what's up?" jim asked as he entered the annex.

"oh my god hi jim! okay, i was wondering if you would like to go on a date with one of my friends?" kelly asked. her plan was to see if jim would accept to see other people than pam.

"erm i don't know... i sort of like someone else already..."jim said while rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"oh that's totally fine"kelly said, smiling to herself. "who is it?"

"that's kinda private kel..."jim said. he knew if he asked about her conversation with pam earlier, she would know he loved pam.

"come on! we're basically best friend! do i know her? at least describe her to me" kelly asked, but she totally knew he liked pam.

"erm- okay then. she's... so beautiful! and nice, she's really funny and god! her laugh is so cute. she's- well i think she's single... she's good at art and she my best frie- erm... i think i said enough..." jim said. when he talked about her, he felt so in love... he felt like he was in a different universe suddenly.

"well, if she's who i think she is, you should ask her out, 'cause she likes you too" kelly said. though she promised to pam she wouldn't say it, she didn't have a choice if she wanted them to date!

"are you serious? how do you even know who i'm talking about..." jim said.

"come on jim! when you talk about her, your face lights up exactly the same way that it does when you're with pam..." kelly said, making jim's eyes widen.

"i- it's that obvious?" jim asked and kelly nodded.

"but wait- you said she likes me?" jim said.

"yeah... she told me earlier, and she wanted me to find out if you like her too, which you obviously do" kelly said.

"oh my gosh... i gotta go, thank you kelly!" jim said and left the annex in a hurry.

now that he knew pam liked him too, he felt weirdly confident and he was going to ask her on a date. he walked to reception.

"why didn't you tell me you have a crush on me?" jim asked with a smirk.

"what?" pam asked, blushing as she looked up from her computer.

"i mean, i would have a crush on myself too but-" jim said smugly

"i don't- who told you that? was it kelly?" pam asked.

"so it's true? and you're single now?" jim said.

"erm yeah- im single, i mean... not the- uh crush part" pam said stuttering a little bit.

"so you'd say no if i asked you on a date tonight?" jim asked. he was starting to think that kelly lied to him, but he decided to still act confidently.

"well... i wouldn't say no..." pam said, blushing even more than before.

"okay, then, will you go out with me? we can go to a restaurant..." jim asked with a big smile, though he tried to hide it by biting his bottom lips.

"yes! erm- yes i want to go out with you" she said, before giggling excitedly.

"okay then, it's a date!" jim said with an even bigger smile.

they both looked at each other for a second, huge smiles on their faces.

"so you have a crush on me huh?" pam asked smugly.

"yeah..." he said without any shame. actually, he loved her, but it was easier to say it was only a little crush.

"why?" she asked.

"that would take HOURS to explain! but the short answer would be: you're you. which is perfect" jim said, blushing.

"aww that's- that's so cute..." pam said before turning around and seeing a bunch of people looking at them. "you should probably go back to your desk, before the whole office knows it" pam whispered.

jim turned around and blushed.
"yeah... i'll pick you up at 6, so be ready!" jim said before walking back to his desk.

"looking forward to it!" pam said. god she loved him so much...
