"dwight's got a hooker! i gotta- i gotta tell somebody!" jim stopped talking for a second, wondering who he could call, except pam.
"i don't know who, but i gotta tell somebody!" he said as he walked into his hotel room, leaving the cameraman and the boom guy outside.

he sat on his bed and sighed. he hadn't called pam since- casino night, and he hadn't even saw her. after he had left the scranton branch, he thought he would be able to forget about pam, and to meet someone else. he did meet someone else, karen, but she was nothing like pam. her presence didn't drive jim crazy, she didn't make him melt when she smiled... or anything that pam did. he never forgot about pam, he couldn't.

he opened his phone and skimmed through the phone numbers on the screen, until he saw hers. he dropped the phone next to him and he layed on the bed, taking a couple of deep breath. he was a coward, he was weak. he had promised himself to not call her, to try and forget about her, but he was weak and he was once again contemplating calling her. he knew he shouldn't, she probably didn't want to talk to him, yet he clicked on her name and waited for her to pick up.

"hello?" she said as she finally picked up, making jim freeze when he heard her voice.

"dwight's got a hooker!" he finally said, bursting out in laughter when he finally remembered why he was calling her.

"wha- jim?" she asked, happy, but slightly confused he was calling her, also not really understanding what he was saying since he was giggling.

"erm, yeah it's me" he said and nervously chuckled. "dwight's got a hooker! i went in his room and there was a woman!" jim said, still laughing.

"no way!" pam said, not even worrying about all the things she wanted to say to him, so happy they were finally joking around like before casino night.

"i- wow..." he said as he finally started to calm down and to stop laughing. "erm... it's been so long since we talked" he said.

"i know... so... how are you?" she asked, excited to finally talk to him, even if it was only on the phone.

"i'm good! but the stanford office is way more boring then the scranton one" he said and silently laughed.

"i bet! must be nice to see your best friends michael and dwight again" she said sarcastically.

"yeah... i wish you were the one who came with michael" he said and sighed. "i- i kinda miss you" he admitted.

"... i miss you too" she said and her eyes filled with tears as she did. "it's really boring here without you, i tried being friends with ryan but it's just not the same" she admitted.

"yeah... ryan is kind of a douche" he said and laughed, though he was a little bit sad she tried to replace him already. i mean, he did the same with karen, but it didn't work either. "and how are you? i heard you changed a lot since i left. fancy new beesly huh?"

"oh i wouldn't say i'm fancy new beesly. i have a tiny appartement, i'm a reject at work, but on the positive note, i have lunch for the next 3 weeks! oh yeah i'm not sure if you heard... i- i left roy..." pam said, stuttering at the end when she realized she wasn't sure if he knew about roy.

"you left roy?" jim asked in complete shock.

"y-yeah, i did" she murmured.

"... are you seeing anybody?" he asked shyly.

"no... well, i like someone but i don't think he wants me anymore" she said, obviously referring to him, though he didn't understand the reference. "what about you?" she asked, scared he was gonna say he had a girlfriend.

"well, there's this girl in stanford, karen..." he said, wondering why he was even lying to her. "but i gotta be honest, she's got nothing on you..." he said and he truly meant it. karen was great, but she wasn't pam.

"... right..." she murmured and there was a long silence on the line. "we never talked about it, what happened that night" she said and he understood immediately what she was talking about.

"what's there to say? i'm an idiot and it was a mistake. i'm sorry i did it. i should've just shut up, or at least not kiss you. you're- you were engaged" he said, feeling hot tears prickle his eyes as he talked. he didn't regret kissing pam, but he regretted how things turned out. and how he later left without saying goodbye.

"no it's- it's okay. i'm not mad at you y'know... i left roy because of it" pam admitted, bitting her lips in anticipation as she waited for him to react.

"what? i- i just... you said you were gonna marry him..." he said. that's why he had left. she was gonna marry him.

"it's this stupid ring. this stupid, cheap jewelry kept me with roy for three years, and it's what made me say i was gonna marry him, that night. this fucking ring" she said and he could hear she was crying quietly.

"so..." he said as a tiny smile appeared on his face. "i'm not an idiot for kissing you..."

"i guess you're not" she said and sniffled. "god... i wish i could see you in real life... you're so far away. why did you leave?" she asked.

"you know why i left" he said as he rolled around in his bed.

"i know" she said. "i just wish you didn't" she sighed.

"i wish i didn't either" jim admitted. even if he was unhappy when he was in scranton, it was worst when he was away from pam. "i heard they might close one of the dunder mifflin branches" jim said.

"really?" pam asked. "huh. i- wait a second" she said and he heard her talk to someone in the background. jim waited patiently until pam talked again. "jim i have to go, something's came up"

"oh... talk to you another time?" jim said.

"definitely" she said with a smile.

"okay then, bye pam" he said. "love you" he added but she had already hung up.
