jealousy (jim and dwight)

dwight was laying on a chair, mad that jim wouldn't talk to him when erin came next to him and started being kinda flirty with him. they were at robert california's pool party, and dwight was having one of the worst night of his life. jim wouldn't even hang out with him, he said he didn't want to seem "suspicious". pfft suspicious my ass.

dwight, being the aggressive man he is, pushed erin in the pool. he hadn't realized she was flirting with him and thought she was trying to bother him. after a small conversation with her, he discovered erin wanted to make andy jealous by flirting with dwight.

dwight momentarily glanced over at jim before deciding he wanted to make him jealous too. he accepted to help erin, but of course, he didn't inform her why he was doing it. she would find it weird for dwight to want jim to be jealous.

jim couldn't believe his eyes when he saw that dwight was flirting with erin! he didn't want people to know about them, but that didn't mean he could go flirt with other people! he wanted to confront him but... he couldn't. anyway, it was fun to see dwight wanting jim's attention so badly. he kept looking at him to see if jim was looking, and of course, he always was.

"cathy! come here do chicken fights with us" dwight shouted at her.

"sure! where is jim" cathy asked. she was always trying to flirt with him and this was obviously another one of her attempt. if only she knew...

"i'm coming" jim shouted to cathy as he took off his shirt, painfully slowly, which made dwight breath hitch in his throat as he observed all of jim's tense muscles.

jim jumped in the pool, cathy following him as he swam right next to dwight.

"hi dwight" he said happily, placing a hand in dwight's shoulder.

"hello idiot" dwight said with a smile.

cathy got on jim's shoulder, erin got on dwight's, and eventually jessica and andy joined them.

jim and cathy were doing really good, they were beating erin and dwight almost every time. jim grinned at dwight as he very subtly placed his hand on jim's hip for a couple of seconds, rubbing his thumb on it. of course, nobody noticed the loving smile dwight gave him. jim placed his hand on top of dwight's, before he pushed dwight's hand away to continue fighting.

"dwight! dwight wake up!" erin said as she lightly slapped his face. the poor dwight had fallen unconscious in the pool, probably from all the pool water he had been drinking or something.

jim looked at him worriedly, not really daring to go see him, but he wanted to go, of course. it was almost painful for him to let erin help him... screw it! he was gonna go help dwight, nothing suspicious about helping a coworker! and anyway, this secret thing was getting ridiculous.

jim ran up to dwight and kneeled next to him. "dwight? are you okay?" jim asked as he stroked dwight's cheek slowly. "dwight" jim said again, and dwight started coughing and spitting water.

"jim" he said with a rauque voice. "did erin and i win?" he asked as he tried to get up.

"sure, dwight" jim lied and dwight looked happy, until he realized it wasn't real.

"you're lying" he said angrily before he tried to go back in the pool.

"dwight! stop!" jim tried to stop him, but dwight was sitting next to the pool, about to jump in it again. "dwight" jim said softly and dwight turned toward him.

"what?" dwight asked, bothered, but that quickly changed when jim pressed a kiss on his lips. he didn't react at first, but then he let himself melt into the kiss.

everybody around the pool gasped or looked at them, speechless. this was... rather weird, since nobody knew they were dating.

"oh my god!" kelly yelled in excitement. "i knew it! that's why jim wouldn't tell me who he was dating!" she exclaimed.

pam, on the other hand, was just really surprised he was kissing him in public, since he was so resilient to the idea of exposing their relationship to the public, which was understandable, since it was all going to play on tv when the documentary was going to air.

"jim" dwight whispered as he finally pulled away. "why did you do that?"

"you wouldn't listen to me..." jim explained softly. "anyway it was exhausting to always hide" he laughed softly.

"you're so stupid... i love you" dwight said as he kissed jim on the cheek.

"i love you too" jim said and they got up to leave, not even bothering to answer any of the questions that were in everyone's mind.

"what the hell was that?" darryl was the first to talk after they heard the door close.

"i think they're dating!" andy said. "did anybody know about this?" he asked, still in shock at the new information.

"i knew" pam said. "they're my best friend it would've been weird to not know..." she said in answer to the looks everybody was giving her.

"i knew too" kevin said as he giggled uncontrollably. "i caught them kissing and jim bought me a chocolate bar everyday so i wouldn't tell anybody" he explained as he breathed heavily, his face so red he looked like he was going to explode.

"that's disgusting" angela said, true to her habits.

"shut up angela" oscar said, in shock that he wasn't the only gay in the office, and nobody even bothered to tell him.

"i can't believe you did that" dwight said with a smile when they sat in jim's car. "i thought you didn't want people to be suspicious"

"i changed my mind... i love you too much to keep you a secret" jim said and dwight blushed.

"i'm sorry for flirting with erin..." dwight said and jim laughed.

"it's fine... it was cute seeing you trying to get my attention, though i have to admit i was a little bit jealous that you hung out with her all night" jim admitted shyly.

"i wasn't trying to- fine i was doing it to get your attention... which worked! so you're dumb, and i love you" dwight said and jim laughed at his dorky behaviour. jim slowly kissed dwight before he started to drive.

"i can't wait for everybody to act really weird with us on monday" jim said sarcastically.

"it'll be fine, i'm sure they're not even gonna care." dwight said unconvincingly. "you know what? i'd rather not think about it for now... so how about when we get home, we take a... shower" dwight said with a smirk.

"sounds great, but be careful you don't pass out in there like in the pool" jim said jokingly and dwight hit him on the shoulder.

even if they loved each other, they could never stop acting like that, pranking each other and acting rather coldly sometimes- but what can i tell you?

it's how they fell in love.
