pam and roy weren't together anymore. she didn't tell jim why, and he didn't ask. after all, she probably didn't want to talk about why she wasn't with her high school boyfriend anymore, especially since he had proposed a few months before.

but now, it had been a month since they weren't together anymore, and jim was starting to wonder if he should do something before she found another boyfriend. obviously, his hope were crushed when she came in the next morning.

"jim?" pam asked as she walked in the break room and she saw just who she was looking for.

"what's up?" he asked when she sat down next to him.

"i have a question for you" she said shyly. she was a little nervous about asking him, but he was her best friend and honestly the only person who could answer that.

"shoot" he said with a grin.

"do boys find it weird when a girl asks them out? like do they prefer asking the girl out or getting asked out" pam asked and jim froze. he could feel his heart beating in his feet. pam had already moved on? and jim was too late.

"... i dont thinks it's weird, well, if i were to be asked out by a girl i'd be happy" jim said calmly, even if he was feeling so tense. it was his own fault. he had waited too long before asking her out.

"okay, thank you" she smiled at him warmly.

"may i ask who's the lover boy?" jim asked jokingly with a smile.

"he's a friend of mine. i've liked him for a while now, and since i'm single i thought i'd just go for it" pam said as she looked in his eyes. his beautiful hazel eyes.

"well i hope it goes well. anybody would be lucky to date you, if he says no he's probably an idiot and not worth your time" jim said as he smiled at pam and he could've sworn she blushed.

"thanks jim" she said before she walked out of the break room.

"did you ask out lover boy yet?" jim asked pam as she sat down for lunch. it had been a week since their previous conversation about it, and she never talked about it again.

"no... i was gonna do it the other day but i got nervous and didn't do it" pam said as she looked down.

"don't be nervous, what's the worst that could happen?" jim asked her.

"he could say no, and i could lose my best friend" pam said.

"i thought i was your best friend" jim said as he looked at her with a confused expression.

"i meant he's a close friend. you're my best friend for sure" she said as she looked away nervously. "how would you want to be asked out? if someone really wanted you to say yes" pam asked and jim thought about it for a second.

"i don't really know... i don't think it matters if you really like the person. if i had to choose though, i'd say... it's cute to go to their house to ask them in person" jim explained.

"if i do that, do i bring a gift or something?" pam asked.

"you don't need to, the date matters more than how you ask" jim said and she nodded.

"what do you think of stargazing? is that too cliché?" she asked.

"no i think stargazing is romantic" jim responded.
"whatever you do, you should ask him soon. last time i waited too long i missed my chance" he said sadly.

"i think i'll do it tonight..." she said, determined to do it.

"tell me how it went tomorrow" jim said.
