THIRD PERSON POV

Anathema was known as the most introverted girl in her town. She didn't speak much, as well as the way she acts. People thought that she became like that after what happened to her parents.

Her Aunt who was a very kind woman, was the only one who understood her and took care of her after her both parents got killed by her father's only brother, who was also her favorite uncle.

It turned out that her uncle was diagnosed by a mental illness called Dissociative Identity Disorder or generally known as Multiple Personality Disorder.

Aside from her lazy but intense gaze coming from her granite eyes, she always got in trouble because of her stubbornness. Most of the students and teachers, even her neighbors,  could tell that Anathema was one hell of a trouble maker in her town.

However, that didn't change the fact that she's also the smartest kid they have ever encountered for she can excel in every subject and ace her exams even without reviewing beforehand.

People disliked and avoided her, well, except for her widowed aunt and a boy named Mederi. Unlike Anathema, Mederi was more of a jolly and very popular teenager, not only because of his drop-dead gorgeous looks but also his admirable good attitude. They've been friends for so long and Mederi didn't only know what Anathema really looked like, he could also see through her soul, only him.

"Hoy, Nath, nakabusangot ka na naman," Mederi told her best friend. He calls her Nath because he thinks her name is too long.

"Ano bang pakialam mo, Med? Ewan ko ba ano'ng meron sa'yo at di mo ako nilulubayan hanggang ngayon," Anathema said, pissed.

"Ikaw lang ang totoong kaibigan na meron ako, no!" he said and noticed her taking a quick glance at the food he was holding. He smirked.

"Dun ka nga sa ibang kaibigan mo, nakakairita ka!" and she started to walk away from him.

"Nakakairita raw e kung alam ko lang naiinggit ka sa dalang pagkain ko ngayon," he teased her.

"Wag ako, Mederi. Wala ako sa mood."

He approached her and now, they're walking beside each other. People around them started watching them, as if like they shouldn't be together.

"Lagi ka namang wala sa mood Nath eh," he said.

"And so?"

"And so ka dyan, eto oh, favorite mo pa naman 'to, ayaw mo talaga, Nath?" he asked her.

She stopped and looked at the burgers he was holding, her favorite.

"Wala akong sinabing ayoko. Dun nga tayo sa Eorthe, maraming tao rito," she grabbed his arm and pulled him away from that crowded place.

"Asus, nakita lang yung pagkain, nag iba na agad ng kaunti yung mood," he tsked.

They went to Eorthe, their secret hideout at the back of an abandoned building near Mederi's house. This is where they met for the first time too, when they were still young.

The two sat down under their favorite tree and Mederi took out the burgers he bought for the both of them.

Anathema was in a reverie when Mederi suddenly spoke. She was daydreaming about her, eating a very large burger, just like the food she was holding right now.
