The Danger Zone (Part 1) - Chapter 22

-Sunday Morning-

I just woke up. I feel pretty energic today, I'm not sure why though. I just got a text, it's from Sarah.

 Sarah: Hey! Would you like to go on an adventure with me today?

I wonder what she means by adventure. 

Grace: Hey! Sure. Where? 

Sarah: Can I come over?

Grace: Sure.

 Sarah: Okay, I'll tell you then, I'll be over soon, and make sure you wear a bathing suit underneath sweatpants and a t-shirt.

Grace: Okay, See you then! 

I'm very curious about what's going to happen. 

I got out of bed, and got ready for the day. I put on my bathing suit with sweatpants and a t-shirt on top. And then I went downstairs. I decided to grab a backpack, and a bottle of water since Sarah said we were going on an 'adventure' and when you're with Sarah, an 'adventure' could hypothetically mean anything! So, who knows what we could be getting into today?!

I knew that she would be here any second, so I decided to just eat a protein bar.

Ding Dong!

I guess she's here already!

I open the front door, while I'm still eating the protein bar. "Hey!" She said. "Hey!" I said. "So, can you actually tell me what we're going to be doing today?" I asked. I'm just so curious to know, since she's been talking about it since I woke up which honestly wasn't that long ago, but whatever, I'm sure you get the point. "I can't tell you," Sarah said. "It's a surprise! All I can say is that it involves the woods!" She continued. "Okay," I said intrigued.

"When are we going to leave?" I asked her. "Right now!" Sarah said excitedly. "Oh, like right-right now?" I asked. "Yep, are you ready?" "I guess so," I said as I quickly threw out my protein bar wrapper into the hallway bathroom trash can. "Awesome!" Sarah said, grabbing my hand. "Bye, mum!" I said. "Bye, sweetie! Have fun!" She said. "Bye, Mrs. Walker," Sarah said. "Bye, Sarah," My mum said.

Sarah and I walked out of the house, I closed the door behind us. And Sarah led the way. "Do you even know where we're going?" I asked. "Of course I do," She said. We just got to the woods. We continued walking. It's a good thing I wore pants today, because there were some thorns on the bushes. We continued walking further and further into the woods, and eventually Sarah stopped. 

"We're here," Sarah said. "What do you mean?" I said. "Look," she said smiling as we turned a corner, and there it was! A beautiful waterfall. "Wow!" I said. "I know right! It's so beautiful," Sarah said. "Yeah, it really is!" I agreed. "Come on, let's go in," she said. "I don't know if we should, what if there's rocks?" I asked. I wanted to go into the waterfall, but I want to be careful. "Trust me, there aren't," Sarah said. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Yes, I've done this before," she said. "Okay," I said. Sarah went in the water first.

It was like a pool with a giant waterfall, and the water was so clear. It was so beautiful! Then, I took off my t-shirt and sweatpants so I was now wearing my bathing suit, then I went in the pool of water.

A while after, Sarah and I got out of the pool, and Sarah said that she was going to the top of the waterfall, I had no idea what she meant by that. "Do you want to go with me?" She asked. "Sure," I said. She took two towels out of her backpack, and handed one of them to me, I wrapped it around myself. "Thanks," I said. "You're welcome," she said as she wrapped the other towel around herself. I followed her as we walked through some more of the woods, and then Sarah eventually stopped walking. "We're here," She said. "What do you mean, here?" I asked. She pointed to a spot on a flat rock, and there was Jake! Wait, what!? Did he follow us or something?

"Jake!?" I said. "Hey, Lovely! I asked Sarah to help me plan a surprise for you," he said. Aww, that's so sweet!! "Aww, well, this is seriously so amazing!" I said. "Thanks, that's what I was going for," he smiled. I looked at Sarah, and she smiled too. Sarah and I walked up to Jake so we could all talk closer instead of being so far away from each other. Sarah and I leaned against a giant rock that was like a wall. I looked over the edge of the wall of rock, and realized it was a cliff. But, not just any cliff, it was a waterfall! At the bottom was a giant pool, bigger than the other pool we saw and there were no rocks in the big pool.

Sarah decided to sit on top of the wall of rock. "Sarah, you seriously shouldn't sit there, it's not safe!" I said. "Don't worry, I'm fine," she said. I care too much about Sarah to lose her or at least have her get hurt. And then, it happened. Sarah fell! She fell off the cliff! "SARAH!!!" I shouted. "GRACE!!!" I heard her scream. "Oh my gosh! I have to go get her!" I said and some tears started  streaming down my face. Jake grabbed my hand. "How will you even get to her in time? Grace, we don't want to have to lose you too!" He said. He looked scared. "I'm sorry, I have to go get her!!" I pulled away from Jake. He quickly got up and grabbed my hand again, "Grace, seriously, it's too dangerous, please don't go, we can call an ambulance instead," he said. "I can't! Listen to me, I need to do this, I've known her my whole life, she's my best friend, I'll go and help her, you call an ambulance, and call her parents too and Ashton too!" I said as I ran away from Jake. I ran as fast as I possibly could through the woods. I had thorns in my skin, and I started bleeding on my arms and legs, but I knew I didn't have time to care right now. My main priority was to help Sarah! And once I know she is okay, then I can worry about myself, but until then, I can't worry about myself. I kept running and crying. I was screaming Sarah's name, but I got no answer. Jake was on the phone with the paramedics right now, and he's running after me, I think it was because he needed to tell the paramedics what was going on with Sarah. This cliff is so big. We kept running faster and faster. Sarah is so strong, and brave, but I knew that she couldn't possibly deal with this on her own. I kept running, asking myself 'Did I just lose my best friend???'
