The Update - Chapter 25

-- 4 months later (26 weeks later) --

Sarah's eyes slowly open.

Sarah's POV:

"Sarah!!!" My mum said. "Oh my gosh! She's awake!!" My dad said. "What happened??" I asked. I noticed I had bandaids on my arms and legs. "You were with Jake and Grace in the woods, and you went to the waterfall, and you fell off a cliff into the water, Grace was heartbroken, she was crying and she rescued you, she told Jake to call us and the paramedics. She handled all of it!" My mum said. "Wow! She rescued me? That's so sweet of her. Where is she?" I asked. "That's the thing, she actually got way too upset, and the night of the accident, she snuck out of her house, and she went to the exact same spot you fell off at, and she jumped." My mum explained to me. "Then, the next morning, Grace's mum realized that Grace wasn't in her room, and her phone was in her trash can. She saw that Grace had messaged Blake and Jake saying 'Goodbye for good.' And so Mrs. Walker called us, Blake, Jake, Ashton, and Hayden, a friend of Jake's to come over and look for her, that's when we went to the woods and found Grace in the water, the water surrounding her was red," my dad said. "Oh my gosh!" I said. I can't believe all of this. This is so bad. "Is Grace okay?" I asked. I'm so worried about her. "We're actually not sure. Mrs. Walker got a message from the hospital saying that Grace was in a coma as well, but she hasn't woken up yet," my mum said. "Oh, well I really hope she wakes up soon!!" I said. "Yes, that's the hope!" my parents said.

-- 1 month later --

Grace's eyes start to slowly open.

Back to Grace's POV:

I just woke up. My head hurts. Where am I? What happened? I'm so confused.

I'm in a hospital room. My parents are in the room. As well as Blake, Jake, Ashton, Hayden and...oh no! Josh! What is he doing here? Why would he even care? He doesn't care about me, at all. 

"Grace!!" My mum said. "What happened??" I asked. "You fell asleep, you we're in a coma," Louis said. "Yeah, it was so scary," Jake said. "It really was!" Ashton said. "How long has it been since the coma started?" I asked. "About 5 months! My mum said while she was crying. "Mum, don't cry. I'm here, aren't I?" I said. "Yes, but I thought I lost you." She said. "Well, you didn't!" I said. "But, what exactly happened? I can't remember a lot." I said. "You were with me and Sarah in the woods, and Sarah went to the waterfall and fell off a cliff into the water, you were heartbroken, and you were crying and you rescued her," Jake said. "Then, your mum asked Sarah's parents,  Jake, Ashton, Hayden and I to come over and help look for you, so Ashton suggested that we should go look in the woods, and then we saw you in the water, just floating there." Blake said. "Then, the five of us," Hayden started to say while pointing to the other three boys in the room besides for Josh. "Ran into the water, and rescued you." Hayden continued to say. "Well, thank you guys so much for saving me!" I said. "No problem, we were just trying to be good friends and be helpful!" Ashton said. "Is Sarah okay?" I asked. I'm worried about her. "Yes, she woke up about a month ago, she's been visiting you every day since she found out about you being in the hospital," My mum said. "Aww, that's so sweet of her! When can I see her?" I asked. "I'm sure you guys can see each other today!" My mum said.

A few minutes later, the doctor came into the room and looked at a clipboard in her hands. "Grace, you are allowed to leave first thing tomorrow morning! But, visiting hours are actually over right now, and Grace, are you hungry?" The doctor said. "Not really," I said. "Well, you should eat something," She said. "Okay, sure. I'll eat something." "Okay, cool! I'll get you some food, but I will need your family and friend's to go, so I will let you say goodbye, while I grab your food." She said. "Okay," I said.

"Goodbye, Grace! I will come and get you in the morning, okay?" My mum said. "Alright," I said. "Bye," Hayden said. "Bye, Grace," Blake said. "Bye, everyone," I said. "Goodbye," Jake said. "Bye, Grace," Ashton said. "Hope you feel better, bye," Ashton continued. Then they all walked out of the room. "Bye...Grace," Josh said looking at me. It looked like he had pity in his eyes. 

"Josh, wait!" I began to say. He turned around and looked at me. "What?" He asked. "Why did you do it?" I asked. "Do what?" Josh asked. "You know what I'm talking about, you kissing that girl that day of sophomore year," I said trying to hold in my tears. He smirked at me. "Well Gracie," he began to say. "Don't call me that!" I snapped at him. "Fine, princess. The truth is, I never liked you." My jaw dropped. "I know right, so sad!" He said sarcastically. "Yeah, I never liked you. The only reason I dated you was because it was a dare. My friend dared me to date you," I couldn't believe what he was saying. And the fact that he was giving me an evil grin while saying it, broke me even more. "Who's your friend?" I asked. I needed to know which of his friends dared him to date me, just to humiliate me. "I can't tell you, it's confidential," he said. "Hey, little girl, are you okay?" He asked with a smirk. "It's not like you would care," I said. "And what makes you think I wouldn't care?" 

"Well, you cheated on me, lied to me, humiliated me, and you've changed Josh," I said. He rolled his eyes. "Whatever, Grace, would I really be here if I didn't care about you, though? Just because I did all that stuff doesn't mean I don't actually care about you," he said. Okay, wait what? I'm so confused now. "Hey, Grace, remember back in eighth grade when people would call you fat or ugly?" He asked me. "Y-yeah," I stuttered. "Well...it's true," he said. I couldn't control my emotions anymore, I couldn't hold in my tears. Tears started streaming down my face. Then, Josh took out his phone. He pointed it at me and I heard the camera click. Did he just— I think he did. "J-josh...what did you just do?" I asked. "I took a picture of you crying," he began. He showed me the picture on his phone. I tried to grab it from him but failed. He quickly pulled his arm away. "Nope, you're not getting it. I'm going to post this, so everyone at our school can see," he said with a smirk. Man, this guy really likes to smirk. "No!" I said. "Yes!" Josh said. "You wouldn't dare!" 

"Try me," he said and with that he added another evil grin, and started walking out of the hospital room, chuckling. 

The doctor came back in with the food. She brought me a banana, apple juice, and some crackers. "Thank you," I said, still crying. "Of course!" She said. "Are you okay?" She asked me while she put on some tv for me. "No, but I'll be fine," I said while sighing. "Okay, but let me know if you want to talk, or need anything, okay sweetie?" She said. "Okay," I said. Then, I ate my food and watched some tv.

An hour later, she came back into the room. She took the food tray. "You should probably go to sleep now," she said. "But I'm kind of scared to fall asleep, what if I stay asleep again?" I asked. "You won't that was only because you were in a coma, but your awake again, it's okay, and the sooner you fall asleep, the sooner you will be able to go home, and see Sarah!" She said. I can't wait to see Sarah tomorrow! The doctor is really nice. I mean, if you were in a coma, and you woke up, and then an hour and a half, later someone tells you that you should go to sleep, wouldn't you be nervous to sleep again?

"Alright, I do really want to see Sarah! Good night," I said. "Good night, Grace," She said as she turned the tv off and shut the light off, the room wasn't super dark, which was good. I then closed my eyes and went to sleep.

-- Sunday Morning --

I woke up, and my mum wasn't there. The doctor came in. "Grace, you're awake, awesome. I was just about to tell you that your mum is on her way. She says that Sarah is with her and they are both coming to see you!" She said. "That's awesome! Thank you, for letting me know," I said. "Your welcome," she said as she walked out of the room and shut the door.

A few minutes later, my mum and Sarah walked through the door. "Grace!!!" Sarah said. "Sarah!!!" I said and she lightly hugged me. "Hi, mum!" I said. "Hey, sweetie! How are you feeling today?" She asked. "I'm feeling better," I said. "That's great! Listen, you will have to go to school tomorrow though," my mum said. "Seriously? Why?" I asked. "Because everyone misses you," my mum said. "Wait, everyone at school knows what happened??" I asked. "Yes, and guess what?" Sarah started to say. "What?" I asked. "Everyone thinks that you're a hero!" She continued. "Why?? Why do people think that?" I asked. I'm so confused right now. "Because you saved me. And you cared so much for me. That's so sweet of you. You're seriously such an amazing friend!!" Sarah said. My mum smiled. "Aww, so are you!! And thank you so much!" I said. "Your welcome," Sarah said.

It feels good to know that I saved my best friend's life. And those four boys: Blake, Jake, Ashton, and Hayden are now also known as hero's.

The doctor came in and unhooked the equipment. I was able to get up now. I stood up and hugged my mum and then I hugged Sarah. They have been so worried about me. And I have been so worried about Sarah, but we're all okay now and I'm still alive. All thanks, to those four boys!
