"w-what?"

"i would like to take you out."

"you mean like with a gun?" clarkes eyes widened.

"what? no... i just asked you out on a date. what part of that doesn't make sense?" lexa frowned and started to regret her decision. this started to feel a lot like rejection to her right now and she wasn't sure if she could handle it right now. given the circumstances.

"s-sorry... i'm just confused." clarke answered, nervously playing with her fingers.

"why?"

"because ms. woods-"

"you can call me lexa." she smiled shyly.

clarke blushed and looked down, trying to process what was going through her head. "lexa... i don't understand. what happened to constantly saying that you're my teacher and nothing more? that there is no 'us'. that we will never happen, that i need to accept it, that i-"

"okay!" lexa sighed, rubbing her temples frustratedly. "yes. i have said all those things. but you're doing something to me, clarke. it's indescribable. i... can't get you out of my head and it's infuriating. i feel like... i feel like i know you. can i be honest with you?"

"uhm, sure."

"when you kissed me... i felt something. a... familiar feeling. and it's been driving me insane clarke, i feel like..." lexa started panicking. nothing was making sense to her, yet everything made perfect sense. contradicting right?
"when we first met, you were unlike anyone i've ever met. it was like i was meant to bump into you. literally and figuratively speaking." the green eyed girl said softly, her eyes glued to the surface of the table.

both girls said nothing. neither of them knew what to even say; where to even start. but they both knew exactly what feeling they were talking about. the feeling like they've been in love with each other before.

clarke scoffed and chuckled softly, shaking her head. "no yeah, i get it... i know what you're talking about." she whispered. lexa's eyes flickered up and she met those blue orbs that she felt like she's looked into a million times before. lexa shifted in her seat and cleared her throat.

she extended her hand across the table and hesitantly reached out for clarke's. she slowly slid it along the smooth surface but stopped due to her loud nerves. seeing she was nervous, clarke met her halfway. the blonde slowly reached forward as well until the tip of their fingers were touching. lexa smiled nervously at the small amount of contact they shared. but she wanted more. warily, she set her pinky on top of clarkes and ran her fingers over clarke's. the blonde didn't move an inch. she didn't want to go too fast and scare lexa. so she let her move on her own and at her own pace. but she watched the happiness glisten in those forest eyes. she was exploring but nonetheless she was heading somewhere.

lexa was attentively keeping her gaze on their hands, and she finally took clarkes hand in her own, and clarke gave her a squeeze. that brought lexa out of her trance and she looked up to meet clarkes eyes. clarke offered a reassuring smile and lexa returned it hesitantly. "go on a date with me, clarke griffin..." she whispered softly.
