< song: half a heart by one direction >

one week.

it's been one painful week of clarke going to school, sitting in ms. woods history class while ms. woods kept all things professional. deadass, at one point, ms. fucking woods pretended she forgot clarke's name! but this was still fixable. right?

two weeks.

it's been two dreadful weeks since ms. woods had dropped clarke off at octavias and since either of them have had any sort of contact. clarke would try, but received nothing in return.

three weeks...

clarke was desperate. she was trying to do anything to get noticed by her teacher. she tried being the angelic student to get extra points, but when that didn't work, clarke turned into the reckless student. she talked back, she came late, she acted out. that landed her detention. but it still hadn't been fixable...

four weeks.

clarke had given up.

"are you sure you wanna move back home clarke? you know you're welcome to stay here as long as you want. don't feel like we're kicking you out or anything." octavia said gently, swinging her legs on her bed.

"yeah, clarke you know you're always welcome here. that's never changed." bellamy spoke supportively, his arms crossed while he leaned against octavias wall of pictures.

"thanks guys... but i have to get home. it'll be rough at first but i just need to do this." clarke croaked, shaking her head.

"look, she wasn't worth it okay? she clearly doesn't see how fucking incredible you are! i mean, if i had the chance-"

"still not happening bellamy." clarke cut him off, smiling softly. "besides... aren't you with murphy now?"

"that's still bros helping bro's... we haven't discussed titles yet." bellamy cleared his throat. "regardless, that's not what's important right now. you got everything?"

"i sure do."

"i'll drive you."

-

"what're you doing here?"

not even a second after clarke stepped through the door, abby was pestering her. it was like she expected her to come. "i live here. remember?" clarke grumbled bitterly. kicking off her shoes and dropping her bag on the floor. walking towards the stairs to head up to her room, she sighed heavily and stopped in front of abby. "congratulations. you got what you wanted."

"what do you mean?"

"that day you kicked me out, what was it... three? four weeks ago? lexa was in the closet. she heard every bitter word that came out of your mouth. she ended things with me the second we left this toxic household. you happy now? because i'm not."

pushing past her mother, she walked up the stairs in a tired way.

"clarke." abby turned and grabbed onto clarke's wrist. the woman hesitated. she wanted to say so many things to her daughter but she didn't have the courage. looking away, she let go of clarke's wrist. "what would you like for dinner?"
