Chapter #14 Natalia Stravnisky

We were sitting in the crammed cell.The sun started to set down after a few friendly chats we knew it was time to rest.

I saw a ray of the moon light hit the face of Ray.Most of us were already asleep except he, Well i decided to get up and talk to him.

"Ray why aren't you sleeping yet?" I asked him

Ray looked back "Well have you ever had that time you found it hard to sleep because your mind is running wild?"

I then nodded yes. "Happened to me many times my friend."

He stood up from our cell and pointed beyond the hills and replied " I always wanted to see the world beyond Moscow."

I then lean at the wall "That's impossible. The black zone separates us from the outside world. Chances are we cant leave this place, Radiation,Mutants,and Bandits. Its something you need to live with."

Ray then looked disappointed "Danielle, When i was still part of the Hilltop Militia, I uncovered a library at the yellow zone."

I then placed my hand on my chin "Whats inside? Forbidden knowledge?" I said jokingly

Ray said "Nope." He then said "I read some sort of old world book. It was made before the bombs fell. This book of knowledge was called the World Encyclopedia And i read something even better. I read that there is a place east of Moscow. That's where the sea of water and salt lies."

"Salt?!" I was surprised "No way. Salt is a precious commodity in fact it is labeled as an luxury item instead of food."

Ray then smiled and continued "That's not all.Moscow is actually part of a massive country! Called Russia."

"Yeah! I know Russia is a country part of Europe. It is known as one of the largest countries in the world!" I replied

He also said " There is also a place called the North and South pole!"

I then think about it...A pole at the south and northern part of...The earth?

"Its called the land of ice!" He said

"Really? We were covered in Ice when the Bombs fell. The clouds covered the sky for roughly ten years. Back when my Dad was young." I said

He then replied "Well in the north and south pole.The ice there provides water to humanity. When it melts of course some of the ice were as old as the Dinos!"

My eyes widen and i said "Dinos? What is this?"

He then said "These are creatures that exsisted before humanity. They were giant lizards that roamed the earth."

Yes..That conversation lasted for hours, I cant help but wonder..Why did humanity destroy themselves when they were living their lives to the best. Where they willing to give up such success over..Oil? Sad to think you know..But there was one topic he told me that greatly interested me.

"Alright!" He said and yawned and stretched his body "This is the last historical event i will tell you Danielle. In fact this is a little bit heart warming."

I then said "Enlighten me then,"

"Have you ever heard of the Great patriotic war?" He asked.

That sounded familiar "Yeah, Sort of." I then said "I hear that when they talk about old guns for sale at the markets."

"Good..Good!" He said excitingly "Germany. A country run by an evil man attacked Russia and America!"

"Whoa." I said "What happened next?"

"America and Russia formed a group called the 'Allied Forces' Together they stopped Germany! It was a long brutal war it started at 1940 and ended four years later. They won together." He said
