Donghyuck walked into school early. He was up all night and figured he would go out and get a coffee before school to keep him awake.
He moped into the classroom, coffee in hand. He walked past Heejin's desk and noticed a note on top. There was a lollipop taped to it. He picked it up and went to open it, but stopped himself.
What am I doing? This is Heejin's personal business. I shouldn't open this.
He set the note back on the desk and turned to start walking again, but curiosity got the best of him. He went back and picked up the note, opened it and read the neatly written letters.
Dear Heejin,
I think you're really cute and I would love if we could hang out sometime! I know you're always around Donghyuck and I'm not sure if you two are together. If you are, that's okay. My measly crush will go away quickly.
Sincerely,
Your locker buddy,
JinwooDonghyuck read the letter twice, his anger building with each word. He was jealous. He had just confessed his feelings and now someone else is going after Heejin.
He closed the letter and took the lollipop, before sitting down in his seat. He read the letter multiple times while waiting for other students to arrive.
Heejin came in about ten minutes later, a sweet smile gracing her face. She skipped over to Donghyuck and stood next to his desk, her arms held cutely behind her back.
"Whatcha reading?" She asked, trying to take a look at the letter.
Donghyuck pulled it back and threw it into his bag. "It's nothing."
"Oh, come on!" Heejin pried. "Did someone give you a love letter?"
"No." Donghyuck answered. "Someone gave you a love letter. I found it on your desk and got curious."
Heejin furrowed her eyebrows. "A love letter for me?"
Donghyuck nodded. He crossed his arms and pursed his lips. Heejin realized what was happening and smirked.
"Are you jealous?" Heejin teased, poking Donghyuck's shoulder.
"Yes, I am. I'm supposed to be the one who likes you." Donghyuck complained.
Heejin snickered. "You can still be the one who likes me. Plus, I like you."
"I'm gonna beat him up." Donghyuck said, cracking his knuckes.
"No, you're not." Heejin replied. "You're gonna give me the note and let it go."
"He's your locker buddy." Donghyuck admitted, handing the note to Heejin.
Heejin gasped. "Jinwoo likes me?"
"He said you're cute." Donghyuck mocked, a scowl on his face.
She read the letter and looked up at Donghyuck. "He even said he would drop it. That means you need to drop it."
"Fine." Donghyuck agreed. "But if I see him or something happens, I get permission to at least tell him what's on my mind.
Heejin nodded. "Deal."

"You wanna come over tonight?" Donghyuck asked, popping a grape from Heejin's lunchbox into his mouth. They were in class, but the teacher was absent and Donghyuck was hungry.
Heejin shrugged. "Sure, why not? I've never been to your house and I wanna see it."
"Why don't we just head straight there after class? It's the last one of the day and it's almost over." Donghyuck suggested, putting away the stuff from Heejin's lunch.
Heejin hummed. "Sure. We have five minutes."
That five minutes was soon up and Heejin followed Donghyuck out of the school and to his house. His house was small, but looked cozy. Heejin's first reaction when they stepped inside, was to the strong smell of pot.
"Oh my god, Donghyuck. Why does your house smell like pot?" Heejin asked, covering her nose with her shirt.
"You don't know?" Donghyuck questioned. He thought everyone knew. "Mark smokes pot."
Heejin's jaw dropped. "He does what?"
"He smokes pot." Donghyuck chuckled. "He smokes it in his room, which is in the basement. My grandma does too sometimes. She says it's because she's old and yolo. I'm surprised Younji didn't tell you."
Heejin was surprised. "You don't smoke, do you?"
Donghyuck shook his head. "Oh, no. I've only ever had one puff from Mark. That shit is nasty."
"Please, never do it again." Heejin begged.
"I won't. Don't worry." Donghyuck assured. "I gotta go get some painkillers from Mark. You can follow if you want."
Heejin decided to follow Donghyuck to the basement. As soon as he opened the door, the smell grew stronger.
"I've never noticed the smell on him." Heejin spoke, trying her best not to slip down the steps. There was no light and she couldn't see anything.
Donghyuck hummed. "That's because he uses massive amounts of cologne. He has a bunch of different scents."
They reached another door and Donghyuck opened it. Heejin saw Mark sitting in a chair, facing away from the door. Puffs of smoke came from his mouth, making the whole room a smokey, hazey mess.
"I need some painkillers." Donghyuck announced to Mark, who turned around and blew out some smoke.
Mark stood up and grabbed a bottle from on top of his dresser, tossing it to Donghyuck. "I see you brought Heejin. Don't get too crazy up there."
"She doesn't like the pot." Donghyuck told him.
Mark whinced and tossed them a can of cologne. "Ah, I'm sorry. I'll finish this one up and open the outside vent. Spray that around if the smell bothers you too much. It has a fresh scent."
Donghyuck thanked Mark for the painkillers and led Heejin back upstairs. They went to his room, which smelled almost nothing like the rest of the house.
"It actually smells good in here." Heejin complimented.
"I try to keep the smell of pot out of my room. I think it's nasty, but I've gotten used to it. That doesn't mean I can handle it all the time, though." Donghyuck explained, popping a few painkillers in his mouth and swallowing them with some water. "I've had a slight headache all day. I don't pop pills or anything."
Heejin noticed her own headache starting to form. She figured it was from the pot smell. "You know what, give me some too."
