Heejun and Younji sat in the latter's bedroom with books scattered around the floor and bed. Their assignment was to find an event in history about english and be able to tell the class about it by next week. The class was an english class and the teacher decided to add history to the agenda.
"So what's up with that quiet boy?" Heejin asked randomly, tapping her pen on the book in front of her.
Younji looked up with a straight face. "His name is Lee Donghyuck. I wouldn't associate with him."
Heejin chuckled. "Why not?"
"A few weeks ago, he beat up a kid for no reason and punched the teacher who tried to break it up." Younji explained. "He's been gone the past two weeks on suspension. He never talked to anyone in the first place, then he did that."
"Okay, there has to be a reason he would do that, though." Heejin said, turning the page in her book.
Younji scoffed. "Reason or not, he's scary and I would recommend staying away."
Heejin dropped her pen and turned over, now laying on her back. "But what if I don't wanna stay away? I'm interested in him. It seems like there's so much to him."
Younji chuckled and shook her head. "Whatever you wanna do. I'm not gonna keep you from making your own decisions. Besides, maybe you can do something to change him."
Heejin thought about that. Could she change him? What if he didn't need to be changed, only needing someone in his life? From what Heejin observed, he had no friends and was pretty lonely. Maybe he just needed a person to talk to.

Heejin walked up behind Donghyuck the next day and tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped, turning around at lightning speed.
"I noticed you seem pretty lonely. I thought maybe you could use a friend?" Heejin asked, raising one eyebrow.
Donghyuck stared at her for a few seconds, seemingly sizing her up. "No."
He began to walk away, but Heejin quickly turned around and ran towards him. She stopped in front of him, causing him to halt his steps.
"Are you sure?" Heejin questioned. She knew she was prying, but she couldn't help it.
Donghyuck pursed his lips for a second, thinking. He looked at her with a straight face. "Yes."
He walked away for a second time. This time, Heejin didn't follow. She only stood dumbfounded, her shoulders slumped.

"It's useless, Heejin. I tried to tell you this." Younji stated as they walked home from school. They were going to Heejin's house to work on their assignment.
"I'm not giving up." Heejin began, gripping the straps of her backpack tighter. "I'm a persistent person. I don't just give up. Not so easily."
Younji sighed. "I hope you know what you're getting yourself into."
"Yeah, I know. You've warned me many times." Heejin said, scoffing teasingly.
"I just don't want to see you get hurt." Younji spoke softly. "We've become close friends and I don't like seeing my friends hurt."
Heejin showed Younji a small smile. "Don't worry about me. I can handle myself and I don't get hurt easily."
The two were quiet the rest of the way to Heejin's house. As they approached her front door, Heejin spoke up.
"What if I put on a badass attitude in front of him?"
Younji snorted. "I would love to see it. I can lend you my leather jacket. You can be a general badass."
Heejin smirked. She liked the sound of that.
