Adira rode her horse deep into the forest and she knew exactly where to go thanks to her being half Ash folk. she could smell the smoke as she got closer. Her horse maia had a waggon on the back for the moon children to sit in and adira got there as quick as she could
"dammit how did they get here already" Adira curses and she knew that the moon children would all still be asleep due to it being the day and them being nocturnal. Soon the screams of pain could be heard and adira rode closer and began to grab the youngest ones off the ground and quickly helped them into the back of the cart and then she told ones in the trees to jump down and she caught them and also helped them into the trailer which was quickly becoming full but the moon children made us much room as possible and Adira kept helping as many of them as she could and she had already made it start raining but the fire just wasn't going out.
Then she noticed him through the flames, cutting down moon children as they reached for him for help as they burnt. He had no emotion on his face and the girl clenched her fists at the man the once sweet boy had become but she knew Carden had corrupted him after they were separated and she knew that deep down he was still the same boy that she once knew.
The weeping monk now noticed the girl who he had heard about and though had never met, or so he thought. Nobody knew the name of the weeping warrior and the girl intended to keep it that way until the time was right.
"How could you do this, they have not done anything wrong" Adira says angrily as she stares at the boy who grips his swords tighter as he looks at her
"they are wrong in the eye of god. they are demons" The monk says as he looks at her and she just scoffs and rolls her eyes
"Seriously? They are demons?" Adira says in a fake shocked voice but then she becomes serious "the only real demons are those men who you work with who go around slaughtering thousands of innocent fey. The fey are no demons, they are nature and man"
"They are a sin" The Monk spits and Adira shrugs her shoulders and turns away from him and begins to help more moon folk into her cart and onto her horse and by now they were piled ontop of each other in the cart and Adira couldn't find anymore
"how dare you turn away from me" The weeping monk growls "face me"
"what, are you my parent now or something" Adira asks sarcastically and then pats her horse on the side of its head and then leans to its ear and whispers "take them back to safety"
The horse lets out a large whine and then turns around and begins to take the moon children back
Adira still hadn't turned to face him but she quickly grabbed the handle of her blade that was behind her back in a sheath and she pulled it out a little bit and there was a loud clang as the weeping monk's sword is stopped by the bit of unsheathed blade of the weeping warrior
"Attacking when the enemies aren't looking? I thought that you were better than that" Adira says and lets out a tisk tisk sound before grabbing her other blade that was also on her back and the monk quickly jumped back as she swung it toward him and then turned to face him
"You know nothing about me" the monk tells her and then swings his blade at her and it was obvious that he had gotten a lot better from when they used to play fight and train together but then again so had she, and the one thing that hadn't changed was the fact that she was a better fighter than him.
After a while the monk was sweating and staring at the girl in shock who hadn't even struggled while fighting him whereas he was completely exhausted.
"who are you?" he asks her and stands up straight. the girl could have killed him by now and definitely could have seriously injured him but for some reason everytime he had given her an opening to hurt him she stopped fighting and he couldn't figure out why. any one else would have jumped at the opportunity to kill him but she didn't and it confused him greatly "why haven't you killed me yet?"
"You ask a lot of questions don't you?" adira questions "Now if you excuse me ill be taking that moon child right behind you somewhere where she can get healed so if you could just kindly step out of my way that would be fan-fucking-tastic" she says and points to the badly injured moon child behind the weeping Monk
"i cant let you do that" he tells her and grips his swords tightly in his hands
"yeah well I'm pretty sure that you cant stop me" She snaps back and also grips her swords tightly in here hands before saying "now move out of my way before i move you"
The monk sighs but doesn't give up and instead he charges for the girl again but she was quick to block his attack and then flip him over onto the ground and she was straddling his waist with her blade held to his throat and he looked up into her eyes in shock and he swears he knew those eyes from somewhere but he just couldn't figure out where from. She pats him twice on the cheek antagonistically before standing up and walking over to the young moon child and scooping her up into her hands and then walking away and leaving the monk there.
She knew the best option for her to take the moon child would be to the sky folk, they have good healers and they would be sure to take in the moon child to look after her
"are you going to kill me" the moon child softly whispers and Adira looks down at her and meets eyes with the moon child
"i hope to do the opposite" she replies and hold the moon child close to her chest and picks up her pace to the sky people
