XXII. Music

KENZIE'S POV

After last night I woke up with a bit of a headache. It was really stressful and I can't believe im actually saying this but for a moment I genuinely was scared of Johnny. I know he's my boyfriend but he never told me he had a gun and even though he's Emily's cousin I haven't actually known him for very long and I guess I just freaked out. I rolled over and Johnny was fast asleep. He looked cute when he slept. His hair that dangled over his forehead, his eyes that peacefully lay closed, even his breathing that I could feel against my neck was perfect. How did I end up with a guy like this. I was lost in thought until I heard Johnny call out
"Baby?!"

"Hm oh what sorry! I was day dreaming" I chuckled

"Yeah I could tell" he laughed

We stared at each other for a little bit before it dawned on me. COLLEGE

"Shit! What time is it!" I yelled

"Uhhh 8:30" Johnny calmly responded  but with a confused look on his face

"WE HAVE CLASS TODAY!" I screamed

"Ohhh god what time?!" Johnny panicked

"At 9!" I called

We both got up and scrambled around trying to find some clothes to wear. I picked up a baggy hoodie and shorts while Johnny grabbed a hoodie and joggers. We ran out the door and met Emily in the street and she gave us a ride.
When we got there the bell had only just rung so we ran
Johnny and I burst through the door to music just as the lesson was starting
Luckily we were there before the teacher though
"Where have you guys been?!" Annie hissed at us

"Sorry! We woke up late. There was a bit of a uh situation last night I'll tell you later" I replied

The teacher then walked in and explained out newest task

"Alright guys and gals. This week in music we will be experimenting with covers. Groups will stay the same NO BUTS and over the next few weeks I will be assigning different genres and themes for your covers. This week is 'Love and Loss' thank you" The teacher announced to the class
We separated into our groups. Of course I'm still stuck with Nadia but at least I've got Annie, Lauren and Johnny to make up for that.
"Sooo should I bother or are you guys just gunna gang up on me again" Nadia snidely said

"We don't gang up on you. Your just annoying and we like to announce out opinions" Lauren replied with a sarcastic smile

"Whatever. So what are you two singing?" Nadia replied

"Uhhh I don't know. Do you want to sing something Annie or Lauren?" I asked them

"Oh god no I can't sing" Lauren laughed throwing her hands up in defeat

"Yeahhh and I'm too shy for that" Annie chuckled

"Oh okay guess it's us again" I said turning and smiling to Johnny

"Yeah what do you want to sing?" Johnny asked me

"Hmmm. Oh OH have you heard the song If the world was ending? I think that would fit the theme really well" I said frantically clapping my hands

"Okay yeah let's do it"

"Alright so it starts like this...
I was distracted
And in traffic
I didn't feel it
When the earthquake happened
But it really got me thinkin'

It's been a year now
Think I've figured out how

I told him

"Ahhhh okay got it!"

The rest of the lesson Johnny and I figured out the notes and structure while Annie, Lauren and ... Ugh Nadia worked on the music. We agreed Johnny should play his guitar and so the others worked on piano and drums. Well Annie helped back up singing and even though she said she was shy she was amazing!

"Annie your so good! You should sing more" I exclaimed

"Omg no I suck" she laughed

"No no! Honestly! Next project you can sing" I said smiling

"Really? Thanks!" She replied, blushing and looking down

"Omggggg we should all, well not Nadia, have a sleepover tonight!" Lauren squealed

"Wow thank you I feel so special being a part of this group" Nadia said holding her heart

We all rolled out eyes and returned back to our conversation

"Yeah we should! But where?" Annie asked

"We could do it at mine?" I suggested

Johnny gave me a look straight away and subtley pulled me onto his lap

"What's up Johnny?" I whispered

"You know if they come round we won't have any alone time tonight" he whispered back

"Well it could be fun we can sneak around" I said quietly so only he could hear

"Hmm I guess so" he chuckled

"So what time should we come to yours tonight?" Lauren asked

"Oh um maybe like 6 ish? Then we can eat, watch a movie and play some games?" I suggested

"Yeah that sounds good. Can't wait!" Annie squealed

We all laughed and I turned to see Nadia. I felt a bit bad for her, we were all making plans without her and she had no friends in our group

"Hey Nadia?...."

"What?" She said turning to me

"D-did you want t-to come?" I hesitantly asked

"W-what? Why?"

"I just thought we should include you?" I shrugged

"Oh w-well no I'm good I don't need your pity party" she rolled her eyes

"Alright. But the offer is still open" I said with a warm smile

"Yeah w-what ever" she stuttered

I felt bad. We used to be friends and I know she left on her own accord but she's stuck in this group and I really just want her to feel better. Lauren already gives her crap about her personality so maybe this gesture will help her feel more welcome. Well I hope it would-if she took it
