XXXII. The end

KENZIE'S POV

It's been a week since we all talked to my dad about helping Johnny, and everyday since we have all been working out butts off to improve our chance of winning Johnny's case.
My dad used his power to convince other members of the force to get on board so that we have supporters in court. Also, believe it not, Johnny has really grown on my dad! We all showed off his best features of his personality and it turns out my dad thought he was a super nice guy.
But today was the day. We were going to stand up Infront of the judge and clear Johnny's name, in a way.
Since we had to go to court, me, Emily, Annie and Lauren all went shopping on the weekend to find a suitable outfit for the situation. Johnny borrowed one of my dad's suits and Hayden already had one.
We were now in my apartment, nervous as hell
"Shit, I'm scared" Johnny said looking down and scratching his neck

"Hey babe it's going to be okay, our plans going to work, I can feel it" I said smiling and rubbing his back to comfort him

"Yeah bro don't stress we haven't worked for days on end for nothing" Hayden laughed

Suddenly my dad came rushing into the living room, looking at his watch

"The cabs waiting downstairs, let's go!"  He yelled as he collected his coat and opened the door

We got into the cab and sat down. Johnny was on my left and Annie was on my right. Hayden, Lauren and Emily were opposite us and my dad in the front by the driver
I could tell we were all panicking a bit but I didn't know how to lighten the mood
I looked over at Hayden and raised my eyebrows trying to signal to him to say something uplifting
He was confused at first and then realised
Oh he mouthed

"Hey guys wanna hear a joke?"" 

"Sure" I said encouragingly

"What did the chicken say when he crossed the road?" He asked

"Uhh I don't know Hayden what?"

"Well...I don't know either!" He chuckled and then stopped looking down

"That was a rubbish joke man" Johnny laughed
We all began laughing at how bad the joke was

"Yeah but it got you to laugh!" Hayden said between gasps

After some time the whole cab was full of laughter, even my dad

Eventually we arrived at court and Johnny became nervous again
I held his hand as we climbed out of the cab
"Kenz I can't lie to you, I'm bricking it" he said looking down at me

"Oh Johnny. I understand it's scary but I will not let anything happen to you. I love you and in all honesty, if you go down, I go down" I said smiling

"I-its just... You deserve so much better" what he said brought tears to my eyes

"We'll meet you in there" my dad said, leaving Johnny and I alone to talk

I waited till they walked off to respond to Johnny

"Don't say that okay! After everything it has made me love you so much more and If i don't deserve you, then I can't have anyone because your the best" I said hugging his torso

"Your the best" he whispered into my ear while holding my head

We pulled away and walked into the court, hand in hand
